Why are you applying for Medical Consultant?
So far I have very much enjoyed playing medical roles, both Combat Medic and Doctor roles. Both provide a unique and fun gameplay and roleplay experience. Helping other players and handling the responsibility is a fun job, and furthering that responsibility is something I would like to continue by going for Medical Consultant. This will allow me to continue learning, and help more people within the facility. It also provides an opportunity to get involved in more in-depth medical roleplay, such as surgeries and so on.
What makes you suitable for Medical Consultant?:
While I haven't much experience as a CL4 Personnel, Medical Consultant provides one of the best learning experiences for such a role, as you are consistently around similar roles that can help you learn. I know most, if not all of the medical procedures quite well and I learn quickly, so I believe I would be suitable in assisting at this level. I can help CL4 personnel, be it Site Administration or Research in their tasks or issues. Helping them should they be ill or injured, and providing medical knowledge for Research tests and procedures. I have some experience doing surgeries aswell. I have also, over the few years of playing on the server put in a good amount of time into medical gameplay. I've had the license for over two years. I can't put an exact amount of hours, but a good amount overall and recently I've been playing a fair bit too of Combat Medic and Sr Doctor.
Please explain an in-game medical procedure of your choice:
Illnesses: One of the most common issues amongst personnel on site is the spread of disease and illness. To treat such issues medical staff must first diagnose the patient, this can be done a few ways. The most straightforward way is to use the equipment we have on us, and within the medbay. Using the ITS, Infection Testing Scanner. To use this you must ask the patient to sit on the machine, and afterwards press the button in order to scan them. The machine will then either say 'CLEAN' is they are clean of any scannable illnesses. Or it will pop up, in red with whatever they are infected with. The other way to figure this out is with the Infection Testing Kit. A device most medical personnel have on their person. A mobile ITS. It however it isn't as quick, and requires the medical personnel to individually test for each disease. This can be time consuming, but if you are able to narrow it down with the patients symptoms it can be quicker than taking them to the medbay, if they are far from it, assuming you have the medicine to treat it aswell.
Once the issue has been diagnosed you must then figure out treatment. Most have a drug or chemical that can sort out the issue. In this instance, a personnel has been diagnosed with Influenza, this can be treated with Oseltamivir Phosphate, a drug that is made in the chemical lab- and most often we have it in the fridges for use. This can be applied to the patient two ways; orally or by injection. Whichever they prefer. Administer the proper dosage (in this case, for Influenza, 200ml) and hopefully within a short time they should be cured.
What are the responsibilities of the Medical Consultant in RP?:
-One of the primary roles for a medical consultant is the training, and guidance of Medical Trainees. This involves teaching them how to use the various machines and equipment throughout the medbay, they proper procedures for treating illnesses and broken bones. How to use the equipment they have on them, such as defibrillators, medical kits, chemicals, injections and so on. Once the trainees have been taught to use all this, Consultants can also provide licenses once they are ready, and teach them the more advanced procedures. Like EST.
-Along with training trainees, you also provide guidance for other medical staff. Be it Doctors, Combat medics or Sr Doctors. You should help them with anything should they require, and you are also considered a leader to them when the Directors are not on-site.
-Assisting CL4 Personnel. You are considered the person that high ranking site personnel would go to for medical assistance. Since they are a high value personnel they would want the most trusted and experienced doctors around; and aside from Directors that would be the Consultant. Along with this, if there is sort of SCP or issue that involves CL4 knowledge- such as SCP-008, Consultants be the main person to talk to regarding this for medical knowledge, as even Sr Doctors don't know about it.
-Like all medical personnel, the most prime job is to keep all staff healthy and well. Making sure to treat people with utmost care and caution, both for your own health others. Doing whatever it takes to keep staff alive and treat them.
Please give some lore about your Medical Consultant character and what storylines they would be involved in:
-Jonah initially joined the foundation as EMT, he quickly passed the initial training and licensing and became a Doctor for a few months. After figuring out the ins and outs of the job he received firearms training, and along with EMT background he went into a Combat Medic. For a good year or so, he assisted and survived on site, helping many with gunshot wounds, bites and all the various injuries that come with working alongside dangerous SCP's. During the course of his stay, he studied infection diseases, and gained a good bit of experience when it came to things related to that, treating personnel for colds, coughs and infections. He spent time assisting Nu-7 with raids on the site, and helped within the Med-bay and D-Block primarily, helping other medical staff when needed. He assisted with surgeries, but his expertise wasn't with surgeries. Rather GSW's and infections/diseases.
