Why are you applying for Medical Consultant?
I am applying for Medical Consultant as I thoroughly enjoy contributing the roleplay that comes with the Medical Department, its been my favourite department that blends gameplay with RP and I feel that an elevation to Consultant will help. I'm interested in the responsibility of a Consultant as I have been flagging on Sr. Doctor and Combat Medic more and more over the past 2 weeks which helped me gain a deeper understanding of the Medical Department.
What makes you suitable for Medical Consultant?
I believe that I am suitable for the position of Medical Consultant due to multiple factors, including that I have held my medical license since November of last year, and upon gaining the License Sr. Doctor was my main job for that time, alongside the willingness to create roleplay for not just the medical department but other departments around the Site.
I have experience in the medical department and other jobs like it, in-fact my main job on Nu-7 was the medic.
Please explain an in-game medical procedure of your choice:
The medical procedure I will be explaining is a field amputation.
Intro and Explanation: A Field amputation should only be performed as a last resort when a patients limb is trapped under rubble and unable to be pulled from the rubble OR if the limb were to be pulled it would result in a severe case of crush syndrome.
Start and Prep:
/Me Injects a vial of local ketamine and applies local anesthesia Into the shoulder.
This prevents the patient from feeling the amputation (You can imagine it would be a horrible experience)
/Me applies a A hemostatic tourniquet 2-3 Inches above where i plan to amputate.
This minimises the loss of blood from the amputation, without a tourniquet the patient would likely bleed out.
/Me applies antiseptic towels under the arm/leg as well as disinfecting the wound.
This helps prevent infections as this is not a sterile environment.
/Me Makes a small circumferential incision 2 inches above the crush point using a scalpel, I then saw through the bone using a Gigli Wire Saw
The patient may roll to decide the outcome.
If the patient rolls above 50: The arm is successfully amputated and is admitted to the recovery room.
If the patient rolls below 50: There were complications during the amputation and they are listed by the patient.
I then improvise from that point.
What are the responsibilities of the Medical Consultant in RP?:
As a Medical Consultant I am responsible for performing Medical License Trainings and the Training of Combat Medics, making sure they are set on the right path knowing what they need to know to contribute the the department. I am also to make sure that Medical Staff are performing their duties and ensuring that there is no misconduct, should misconduct be found they are to be punished accordingly.
Medical Consultants may also perform advanced surgeries alongside Senior Doctors, Consultants are able to manage the medical department on a personal scale rather than a general scale as the DoM would.
Please give some lore about your Medical Consultant character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Joshua grew up in rural England to Jane Mack and Andrew Mack, He spent most of his life in that town but then moved to London to enroll in Medical School, he passed with flying colours and gained his Medical Doctorate.
On a visit back to his hometown Mack had an encounter with SCP-023, Which led to a visit from the Foundations Department of External Affairs, after this his death was staged and he was held by the Foundation for questioning in Site-44 where he started his career as a Doctor.
On May 5th 1992 Mack was transferred to Site-91 To study xenobiology and provide insight into Project Hecatoncheires.
As a part of an exchange program, he was transferred to Site-65 to work as a Senior Doctor once again.
