What Ethics Committee role are you applying for, and why:
As I submit this application, I am seeking the role of Ethics Committee Member. Currently, there are two available spots on the Ethics Committee within Foundation Command, and I am eager to fill one of these positions to further pursue more impactful and engaging roles within roleplay.
Over the past three months serving as an Ethics Assistant, and more recently, the past three weeks as a Site Advisor, I have continued to expand my understanding of FCOM operations. These roles have allowed me to work closely with Foundation Command and gain valuable experience in high-level decision-making and coordination.
Throughout my nine months of playing SCP-RP, I’ve observed a consistent lack of meaningful roleplay within certain departments—particularly ISD. More often than not, I witness ISD personnel simply arresting individuals, writing reports, and issuing warrants, but rarely engaging in immersive or creative RP scenarios. This issue isn’t limited to ISD—it affects departments like GENSEC as well.
One of the reasons I am applying for Ethics Committee Member is to help fill the RP void I’ve witnessed in these departments. My goal is to promote and initiate interactive and immersive experiences that involve a broader range of personnel, ultimately making the server more enjoyable for everyone.
However, this is not my only reason. I believe that encouraging cross-department interaction is essential for a healthy RP environment, and I’ve noticed this element is becoming increasingly rare. As an ECM, I aim to address this concern while also fulfilling the traditional responsibilities and duties of the Ethics Committee with integrity and dedication.
What makes you the best candidate for the Ethics Committee?:
Role play:
Primarily, I do not have any major roleplay scenarios to showcase as an example. However, by already being part of Site Administration and serving as an Ethics Assistant, I have developed a strong understanding of the roleplay that FCOM engages in and creates, and how I can also contribute to this RP loop within the Ethics Committee.
For example:
Guidance:
As there has been a wave of new players joining the server day by day, I’ve frequently been approached while on duty as an Ethics Committee Assistant or Site Advisor. New and current players alike have come to me for advice—most often researchers asking how to make their tests more ethical or how to extend them beyond the usual, repetitive sampling procedures.
I’ve been assisting both new and experienced players daily in navigating roleplay on the server. Additionally, I’ve supported new ISD agents during times when their superiors were offline, providing them with tasks and assigning patrol or manning locations as needed.
Interactivity:
As I mentioned in the Guidance section, during my time as a Site Advisor and Ethics Committee Assistant, I’ve had numerous interactions with various departments. Currently, I serve as the Liaison for Gensec as a Site Advisor for the month of May. I've engaged with personnel across all ranks—from Cadets to Captains.
After all, ECAs are the front-facing representatives of the Ethics Committee. This means we handle the regular CL4 duties assigned to us on behalf of the Committee. When Ethics-related assistance is requested, it’s typically assistants like myself who respond—unless the matter requires direct command involvement.
What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee in RP?:
The FLC
As Ethics. You deal with the FLC, and how it is upheld. The FLC is strictly holding on the foundation staying up. And that no one is above the law to do unethical testing, or other violations of the Foundation Legal Codex. Keeping it updated day to day and conducting changes on it, as the council and committee feel they are necessary. After the recent changes on the FLC, there is no determination for "Ethical violation" And "Conductive violation" Which means that the FLC has now been brought together.
Alpha Warhead (CL5 Responsibility)
As a CL5, you hold the responsibility of managing the Alpha Warhead within the Foundation. Although it can quickly resolve breaches, its use must be carefully considered and treated as a last resort. The Alpha Warhead initiates a complete RP reset, meaning all roleplay events prior to its detonation are voided—this includes the breach and any related developments.
It should only be used in cases of mass containment breaches that are nearing the surface or when SCP-008 breaches are close to have fully compromised the site.
Site Safety
As a CL5, as mentioned in the Alpha Warhead section, you have the authority to either activate the warhead or call in the ERT (Emergency Response Team). These units are heavily armed with various forms of anti-anomaly equipment, weaponry, turret systems, and other advanced tools. ERT forces are typically the last line of defense before the warhead is considered during mass breaches.
If the ERT fails—something that usually only occurs during major breach you will be left with two options: deploy another ERT unit (if available), or, if the situation has escalated to the point of compromising the garage and threatening the surface, initiate the Alpha Warhead.
Command RP.
Within the Ethics Committee, you hold a significant responsibility in managing site affairs involving other departments. You are also tasked with handling relations between the AO forces and the O5 Council.
During AO conflicts. your primary duty is to engage with the Overseers to de-escalate hostilities as quickly as possible. Additionally, you may bear the responsibility of recommending the removal or termination of Overseers. However, such actions should always be considered a last resort.
Before initiating any form of "Primary Action," the situation must be discussed thoroughly with all members of the Ethics Committee and the Administrator. If Primary Action is ultimately approved, MTF Omega-1 must be immediately informed and placed on standby, prepared for any consequences that may arise as a result of the operation.
Other responsibilities
As in the Lore of SCP. Ethics are there to hold on that the foundation's duties are held. Ethics hold off that overseers don't get corrupt with their powers. There is a lot of more that i won't for now list in here.
What are the responsibilities of the Ethics Committee out of RP (e.g. what applications do they handle?):
Out of RP Ethics members are responsible to look after applications for the Director of ISD and Ethics assistant applications.
Also, as CL5. They are also responsible for server health, and should consider deeply on what decisions they do to keep the RP fun going for everyone.
Please give some lore about your Ethics Committee character and what storylines they would be involved in:

Operation Riondure: After working closely with Ethics Chairman Takeshi, Ethics Assistant James (myself) began collaborating with two researchers on their project involving the testing of SCP-912’s armor capabilities. I assisted in writing the documentation for the experiment and took part in observing the test as well. The project was successful, providing valuable insight into what the armor can and cannot withstand.
Operation: Missing Pills
After the Ethics Committee and MTF Omega-1 noticed a string of missing SCP-500 pills, the MLT also raised concerns. Following discussions with a former Director of Medicine, we collaborated on the idea of upgrading the keypad system to have stronger defenses against hacking. (It is now impossible to hack physically when fewer than 40 players are online.)Following this, I created an operation document in which we recorded the number of pills daily and tracked potential locations they may have been taken to.

After the incident within the EOC, in which Andrew ordered the execution of the UNGOC representative Attaché as revenge for the killing of Assistant James Kenraali during a UNGOC raid, a wave of diplomatic tension began to unfold.
A few days later, the Overseer Council made the decision to mobilize all site combatants for a large-scale raid on the UNGOC’s 225th FOB in Pinewood. The mounting pressure from these escalating events proved too much for Ethics Committee Member Andrew Whitaker, ultimately leading to him taking his own life.
