Do you have any previous experience as a Gamemaster/Event Manager in a community
I was Head Game Master and one of the managers on lore for a SCP-RP French Community. I cannot name it per Civil Networks rules, but I can say that it was the Number 1 in french rankings for a very long time. It is on that server that I worked on a major event that lasted an entire week non-stop called Leviathan, about the Sarkics Cult, including every 100 players every evening and day for the entire duration of it.
(I have many videos and proofs of its development with my old team if asked for it)
Do you have any advanced skills that would benefit the GM team ?
If yes, give us your best example of putting that skill into practice
I am still expanding on my PAC3 knowledge, but I believe myself to be a fast learner. As a fan of creative endeavour and scenic environment / story-telling, I WILL learn how to do atmospheric scenes and pacs, along with characters. More importantly, I believe my specialty is my mastery over the SCP Foundation Lore. It’s been more than ten years since I was introduced to the SCP Community and RP in this universe. As such, I've seen and read most lore drops in real time. Canon, GoIs, arts, even errors and what has been put through criticism, so much so that I even have some ideas & concepts of the different writing eras from the writing wiki community. My biggest achievement for this skill is my Leviathan Event.
Please list one RP Enhancement for a Foundation Department/MTF
An example of a RP Enhancement for the Research Department, if there is a lot of thaumatologist connected, one of them tries to experiment with a grimoire enchanting it, the grimoire could go rogue and goes flying around site. Made via Pac3, the objective would be to find it in a semi-fun quest around the site (LCZ into HCZ or even EZ), capture it and deactivate it or simply put it back where it was orginally. Its content could also be unique information on the SCP Lore about some obscure spells that I know.
Please list one RP Enhancement for a Non-Foundation Group
A civilian or even Parawatch tries learning thaumaturgy, through a logical endeavour (that may be a document teaching it, or contact with an artifact), that would entail giving them Reality Bending (At the condition that I know the person would NOT troll and RDM with it). Either they use it in a negative way, and get killed or captured, or good, and may get recruited by CI or GOC. The learning tool may also be seized by one of the three organizations for study.
Please list one Event idea for the United Nations Global Occult Coalition
[ Through the Gates of the Silver Key ]
Lately, civilians of Pinewood and GOC agents have experienced strange and vivid dreams. Almost prophetic, or outright incomprehensible. After some time, or the help of an advisor, GOC understands that an anomaly is running rampant in the Dreamscape, and they need to send a team there to neutralize it before it spreads into the noosphere.
May be a recurring narrative, with different dupes and pac3 made to experience the dreamscape and to build up momentum, finalizing into an event or a major event.
Please list one Event idea for the Chaos Insurgency
[ An Umbrella ? What For ? ]
Local CI get contacted by a cell from Russia about a convoy from Logos Inc, a russian anomalous pharma corp that may pass by Pinewood for a transportation into the U.S.A. CI would then try to pick up the heavily armed convoy that have anomalous medicine (that may help for bioweapons development). The SCP Foundation could also get involved in case of successful attack by CI, or if DEA successfully communicates with Logos Inc. to help them against CI. To not fall too much into the classic gunfight, aftermath development for the research team of CI is planned
(RP elements and reagents for the different drugs, actual written documents for context, and some open doors for diplomatic RP).
Please list one Event idea for the SCP Foundation
[ A Malady of Old ]
A sickness is spreading through the Containment Breach of SCP-1025 : a new anomalous variant of the bubonic plague. The Medical Department would get a central responsibility in containing the contagion, even asking temporarily for the help of SCP-049. MTF would try to apprehend the persons responsible for the containment breach, and the science team would try to research this new variant of the plague.
I could get very deep into an anomalous plague and its workings, or even the Death and the Doctors Canon but that would entail very important work because it is an obscure part of the lore (but very interesting !)
Please list a Major Event or Map Change idea
[Paris à la Carte]
(GOC, CI or SCP Expedition MAP CHANGE)
Marshall Carter & Dark recently published a new offer at their regional auction house : an invitation to the newest and greatest banquet of Ambrose Restaurants, celebrating the opening of a new restaurant in Paris. The Event is played or not depending if the invitation is officially sold to any group (the selling process itself may then be an event).
[SCP Foundation Route]
- An envoy from MTF Lambda-14 "One Star Reviewers" contact Site-65, offering DEA, Research and MTF to participate in an expedition to Paris, first to shut down the restaurant, and for the others participants to either : see more of the anomalous world in action (DEA Awareness), Studies the food of Ambrose Restaurants (Original Study fields for RSD !), and maybe retrieve some anomalous objects against hostiles (MTF).
[GOC & CI]
- More or the same, GoC would be contacted by the 108 or an envoy to shut down the restaurant and discreetly destroy every trace of anomalous activity.
- CI would be an actual planned terrorist attack, with a risk being targeted by the Gendastrie Nationale, the french anomalous police, or the SCP Foundation via Site-Aleph
What elements can make an event unenjoyable? Include one example, avoiding the typical answers if possible
There are multiple elements that can make an event unenjoyable, that I will list before making an actual example
Lack of Immersion
The event is not accurate to the SCP Foundation Aesthetic, or is separated from it without any logical of legitimate reason
(AWCY is a really good reason to be out of the iron cold SCP style)
Lack of Information
Not enough information given about the event, or its progress and creates frustration.
Lack of Material
The event has not been through enough preparation or does not have enough contextual information, making it lose in the narrative, and if players are coming up with something and the GM is not capable of improvising on the fly, it may lead to a dead-end.
Railroading
Linked to the upper one, if the GMs and the event is planned to the extreme, and there can be absolutely no flexibility to it, it’s a dead-end event. I understand that there may be conditions, but allowing players agency is the best way to make an event satisfying and to develop a sense of actual impact for involved characters.
Lack of Player Involvement
Depending on the scenario, feeling left out is a major part of considering an event unenjoyable. As a main researcher, except for an expedition, I had only two contacts with events that were limited to simple interviews. Compared to the very extensive stuff that some EC, MTF or OSA gets, it is very frustrating.
And finally, what do you wish to achieve by becoming a Gamemaster ?
I wish to achieve a better SCP narrative in general. To better include all the wonderful and hidden gems of the SCP Foundation narratives that have not been tackled before, make the lore more accessible and part of the wider narrative of CN. Be it through GoI and their histories, Thaumatology, different views of certain SCPs. For me, it’s all about giving a soul to the old school SCP Aesthetic, the one that still drives me 10 + years after I discovered it.
