Why are you applying for Director of Research?
The reason I am applying for Director of Research is because I have always had the plan to stick with RSD and improve it any way I can. I have always had RSD as my
main role and main focus. I enjoy interacting with the people in RSD, especially with the RSD Leadership team. Being Director I want to continue to push my changes on a larger scale. I want to refine the structure and foundation of the research gameloop to make things more engaging and welcoming. I have always made that my main focus and plan to continue doing so.

As some may remember, I had applied for Director once before, and that was for the reason that I was concerned into where the Research Department was heading. After others were chosen for the role I became an Executive again to cement myself and bring myself up to date with how RSD is being ran. I still feel there can be improvements made and with Alex' help Research can be in a far better place.

I do have alot of ideas that I would love to integrate whilst being DOR:

- Giving researchers more recognition for their actions in the department, to give them a driving reason to partake in research activities. These ideas include things such as Document of the Week/Month, Researcher Highlights, Project rewards etc.

- Continuing with fostering a more welcoming aesthetic and culture within the department, ensuring approachability for researchers to RSD leadership.

- Introduce new SCPs! As I recently became a TGM I have already began working on some new inanimate SCPs that we could bring onto site.

As DOR I would have an easier time bringing my ideas and integrating them into RSD and that is ultimately why I am applying. Research deserves leadership that is present, invested and passionate.

What makes you suitable for Director of Research?:
I believe I am suitable for Director of Research as I feel I have already taken steps into the responsibilities of the role. I have invested myself into ideas and programs designed to improve both the department, but most importantly to make a positive impact on RSD Leadership. I worked on and created S.T.E.P along with Alex Redmont as a program designed to both entice new Executives, but to also improve the quality of Execs entering the team by running them through an actual testing and scenario period to see how they adapt to the role and if they are fit. One of the main purposes of S.T.E.P was to show the applicant the major gameloop change that comes with the Executive role, as some might find it less appealing.

I have also been taking on some responsibilities that are usually taken on by DORs, mostly minor things such as meeting notes and online documents. I feel that even then it would help adapt myself to the role quicker. I started Research 2.0 as a means to push a new objective to the RSD Leadership, aiming for a researcher first mentality. This is where I pushed for the sampling restrictions on CL1 SCPs to be removed, all of LCZ Inanimate SCPs to be CL1 and allowing Junior Researchers to be given new SCPs such as the Cultist Book that would have most likely be deemed a higher Clearance Level. These changes gave rise to a new flow of amazing researcher which remain in RSD to this day. I would accredit these changes as the reason we have Executives such as Raaf & Oleg.

Then there is the more generalised things that I feel make me a good candidate for the role. I have maintained a very good amount of activity, but ensuring I diversify my time to prevent burnout. I make it a habit to help and guide researchers as best I can, with no issue taking as much time as needed to sort their issues out to the best of my ability. I love to review and see what people are doing within RSD, I get excited to watch as their ideas come to life and they use the tools provided to make something unique and interesting. I believe showing that excitement to people aids in them wanting to continue to interact with the department.

What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP?:

The Director of Research carries the overall responsibility for ensuring that the Department of Research functions as a stable, organised, and high-quality pillar of the site. Research is one of the most integral components of the server’s RP ecosystem. Without consistent testing, structured projects, and an active Research Division, entire gameplay loops for GSD, E-11, ISD, SCP players, and D-Class begin to stagnate. Because of this, the Director must manage the department with care, consistency, and strong leadership.
In roleplay, the Director of Research is responsible for:

Departmental Leadership & Management
The DoR oversees the entire Research Division, ensuring Executives fulfil their responsibilities, such as documentation grading, onboarding, sampling and test approvals, and merit logging. They maintain structure through weekly meetings, project assignments, and general departmental organisation. The Director sets the tone; their conduct directly shapes the professionalism and stability of the entire RSD.

Policy Enforcement & Departmental Standards
The DoR enforces Research policy, testing protocols, and the FLC. They ensure that tests are conducted safely, ethically, and within the guidelines established by Site Administration. When policies require clarification, revision, or expansion, the Director works with command members to implement these changes.

Documentation Quality & RP Standards
One of the core responsibilities of the Director is to maintain and elevate documentation standards. They set the grading expectations, guide Executives on consistent evaluation, and encourage all Researchers to produce thoughtful, detailed, lore-respecting documents. By upholding strong documentation practices, the DoR secures the quality and authenticity of Research RP across the site.

Authorisation of High-Risk Testing
The Director is responsible for approving Euclid–Euclid, Euclid–Keter, and Keter–Keter cross-tests. They assess the purpose, risks, and benefits of proposed experiments and ensure external bodies (such as the Ethics Committee) are involved when necessary. They also ensure Executives remain available to approve lower-clearance and lower-risk testing.

Departmental Engagement & Cross-Branch Relations
A key responsibility is maintaining positive relations with E-11, ISD, Medical, GSD, and other relevant departments. The DoR coordinates cross-departmental projects, resolves RP roadblocks (e.g., FLC issues, security conflicts, sampling restrictions), and ensures Research does not impede other branches and isn't impeded by them.

RP Facilitation & Event Support
The Director works with GMs and staff to integrate Research into server events and storyline developments. Directors should also help researchers get in contact with GMs if needed for testing. They help plan and support large-scale RP so that these events do not fall flat and that Research has meaningful involvement.

Meetings, Communication & Staff Development
Regular departmental meetings are a core duty of the DoR. These involve discussing department status, reviewing policy, sharing updates with SA/O5/EC, assigning projects, answering questions, and gathering ideas from Researchers of all ranks. The Director also interviews Executive candidates and ensures the leadership team remains strong and active.

Operational CL4 Duties
As CL4 personnel, the Director may assist with facility systems, clearances, and high-level operational controls during emergencies such as breaches or raids, supporting containment and site stability.

Maintaining Research as a Central Pillar of the Server
Most importantly, the Director must recognise that Research is a foundation of server RP. Without active testing, structured projects, and well-led Researchers, the flow of RP across the entire site slows or collapses. The DoR’s role is therefore not only departmental leadership, but safeguarding the health and progression of server-wide roleplay.

Please give some lore about your Director of Research character and what storylines they would be involved in:

WALTER VILLIANE PERSONNEL FILE & TRANSFER REQUEST

Despite our differences, our previous negative encounters ended up as they did due to my actions.
You as an executive have not done too poorly and I believe now with TGM and hopefully DoR you can bring a lot to RSD.
I will hence apologize for the past and wish us luck for the future.
I hope you get it and I hope RSD flourishes from this.

- Walter has always been a great person. He helped me a lot during my time in RSD, IC and OOC. Be it as a senior, or as an Exec. The only critic I can realistically make about Walter is that he lack a long-lived character that is established for the position.
