What O5 role are you applying for, and why (give the specific O5 number):

Hello reader, I am applying for the position of O5-3 (Assuming number seniority, the number doesn't matter) and I want to become an O5 because it's always been my biggest and brightest goal. I have long aspired to be able to apply for O5 and since being in A-1, have tried my absolute best to learn and adapt to one day meet this challenge.

However, aspiration has to come from somewhere. I have spent the past year+ (not counting my disappearances for university) as a member of F3, firstly as an A-1 (who spent about 2 months applying while in GSD) and again as an A-1 until I became an OSA. Since my induction into OSA this has been my only role, why? As I find the RP conducted around F3 to not only be appealing but irresistible. I love the mystery and the mask that covers it more than anything else on this server and since I from the moment I got A-1 command before, I have always wanted to help, encourage and truly push F3 to the best it can be.

What makes you the best candidate for the O5 Council?:

Experience
Firstly, experience. I have been a member of F3 for slightly over a year now, I have been A-1 command to now a senior assistant which means outside of A-1 Regimental Command (major at heart) I have experienced everything this floor has to offer. Due to this, I near enough know A-1 inside and out which includes what they want, what they need and how I can deliver that to them. Outside of A-1, as a Factotum assistant I have had to privilege to interact and understand O5 at a level I was simply unable to as A-1. This includes but is not limited to: Sitting in very high profile meetings, contributing to O5 orders, representing O5 on their behalf and using A-1 to push O5 directives. These experiences and much more have done nothing but help me understand the role not just at face value but at it's core, after all I interact with the council every, single, time I am on site.

Dedication
As previously stated, I love F3. I spent roughly two months applying just to join A-1 and I have never looked backed (unless forced to, thanks uni). I have given everything I am able to contribute to the floors performance, I have learned at every opportunity and done my upmost to transfer this those who ask or are assigned to me as a mentee (less of course with the more exceptional mentees) of which, not including A-1, I have mentored four newer OSAs. Most of which I turned up to their interviews to present myself as a mentor instead of the council having to pick someone at random, why? Because this is what I enjoy, helping people experience what I love about F3 is something I find enjoyable.

Personal Qualities
I like to think of myself as a calm, level headed person. I have a laugh, I lock in when I need to and if my memory doesn't fail me I have never caused a single issue within F3 or OOCly (outside of what was a minge period spanning the dates of my warns). I try my absolute best with people, respond to DMs in a timely manner and something I find quite important; leave IC and OOC separate. This is a game after all, it is important that those who hold IC 'power' have the basic ability to understand this fact.

Knowledge and Application
While my experience may make me knowledgeable, what is information without the ability to use it? If selected to be an O5 I wish to do a number of things:
  • Build a greater relationship with OSAs, especially factotums and PAs.
  • Give A-1 more daring tasks with far more variety spanning not just on site but outside of site.
  • Reintroduce the O5 mentality of the ends justifying the means on a wider scale.
  • Work closely with RSD to produce more opportunities for high risk testing.
  • Readjust tensions between ethics and O5 to be something more than the usual trope.
Would love to see more O5 aggression surrounding AO conflicts.

And more, this is the baseline of what I would like to do as an O5, on top of this would be that I bring with my character and the RP I create from it. I believe it is very important to recognise that I will never 100% understand the role until I have sat in it and experienced it, therefore it is critical I enter the role with an open mind and embrace that some of my ideas may not be possible and that more importantly, I will make mistakes, however this is natural as long as I apply myself and learn from them.

What are the responsibilities of the O5 Council in RP?:

O5 are the absolute power on site, however not publicly. While their duties focus on CL5 responsibilities they are still bound but their CL4 duties as well.

  • Push production goals directing the foundation and it's staff (SA being used as a proxy) to perform the best they possibly can in the eyes of the council no matter what it takes.
    • This is mainly represented via the delivery of orders and long term directives from Assistants, or Alpha-1 in the harshest of scenarios.
  • Assess site health in line with code black procedures in order to preserve server health and gameplay loops, I.E: If a breach is out of control and it is negatively affecting server health (especially considering ERT failing and length of breach) it is O5s responsibility to activate an RP reset via the Alpha Warhead.
  • Utilisation of Assistants and Alpha-1. It is important to distinguish the cases of use with these two bodies of F3, Assistants are the diplomats, they talk and 'convince' as extensions of an O5s authority. Alpha-1 are the tools, they apply pressure and do whatever it takes to carry out an O5s orders. Assistants have limits, which makes them great for maintaining relations, Alpha-1 does not.
    • Applying to both Alpha-1 and OSAs, O5 are responsible for creating orders and interactable situations that apply to both groups.
  • Oversee employments hearings (often reserved for high level personnel). This is (from my experience) usually used for the 'wrapping up' of RP, they often represent a sort of 'show trial' to reinforce the idea of the 'site inspectorate' as a public, balanced power rather than the reality of an autonomous powerhouse which is the council.
  • Oversight of SCP procedures, containment methods and complete authority over termination of an SCP. This point mainly relates to O5s essential ties to RSD in which they enable RSD to perform, whether they want to or not.
  • Interaction with the ethics committee on a public scale. While either party is just waiting for the chance to mess with the other, publicly it is important to present an intact foundation command structure, especially when handling the employment of site personnel.
    • Obvious exception being AO wars, which represent the breakdown of these relations via RP to which either side feels it is impossible to achieve their goals outside of using full force.
  • Assisting SA with the creation of site policy when needed. SA are autonomous to a certain extent, while as stated they may be proxies for the O5, they don't need to or want to be micromanaged unless it is absolutely required, I.E: SA is down to very low numbers if not empty and requires external intervention for support.
    • In such time that SA is in dire need or for any other reason, if SA neglect departments on site O5 may intervene to support said department and bring it back to health.
  • Basic Sr / Jr CL4 duties; Approve documents, activate FSL / Teslas, authorising AA (in the absence of SA) and authorising mass terminations against D-class escaping or rioting on an uncontrollable scale.
What are the responsibilities of the O5 Council out of RP (e.g. what applications do they handle?):

Applications
O5 handle the following applications:
  • Site Director
  • Site Advisor (When there are no Site managers or Site Director)
  • Alpha-1 Commander (Not done via application but selection)
  • Overseer Assistants
O5 also handle appeals to SA decisions, most commonly related to demotion appeals by Sr CL4.

OOC Behaviour
Being pillars of site wide RP, O5 are expected to be professional, abide by server rules and conduct themselves appropriately to others around them. This also extends to their behaviour on the job itself, a bad impression especially to newer players can have a negative affect.

RP Leadership
Being an RP leader, O5 are seen as people to go to for advice and guidance. It is important to be in a position where you can meet the expectations of assistance someone is asking you for the best you can, and to be able to accept that if you can't help then there's no shame in passing them along to someone who can or even asking for help yourself. Furthermore, as an RP leader ICly you have say into OOC changes where you can put your own opinion on matters of site wide importance.

Please give some lore about your O5 character and what storylines they would be involved in:

ALPHA-1 PERSONNEL FILE - "INHERITOR"

TLDR: Max T. Stone / Inheritor was an unsocial, family deprived child who grew up alone with only a focus on work. After leaving for the military, he became an officer within the RMP and was deployed oversees where halfway through his platoons tour they were ambushed after following dodgy orders that Max insisted they follow. After being attacked by his own SGT, twice, he shot him doing entirely what was necessary to keep himself alive.

Following this, the foundation makes first contact while he is stranded in the desert. They speak of him and reference his father, he convinced Max to join the foundation on the basis of "what else can you do but accept?". However as seen years down the line, what started as a sort of forced employment turns into rock solid loyalty. Max is now under the codename "Inheritor", paying homage to his father, a previously diseased A-1 officer (as far as he knows) who died when Max was still a baby.

Max undergoes a mission to collect classified documents while E-11 and other 'assisting' (distracting) A-1 are raiding a governors house for leaked documents relating to a foundation site. During this, Max defies a repeat of his first platoons annihilation and orders them to retreat putting himself on the line to save a trapped PVT, in the process severely burning his hands. (Which is why he always wears gloves on site).

Max asks to be something greater, something more than his father was. His request is accepted and he is now an Sr Assistant within Site-65 and to the council.

Max represents a process of natural progression, however taken to the extreme. He is a tool, used to fix and maintain the O5s authority however unlike the many others who are the same, the question around Max is, "What if the hand was allowed to control itself?".

Overall, Max is human. There are no anomalous links between himself and any SCP, he (if accepted) has achieved a position on the council via sheer loyalty and perseverance. Max is a realist, a no bullshit kinda guy who serves to put things in their place. He is blunt, rude and can be dismissive to those under him except the soldiers of Alpha-1 who he respects dearly (due to previously serving) and is hesitant to throw their lives away unless absolutely needed. A-1, of course, have no idea why he cares so much but that's a story for another day.

If accepted to be O5, Max isn't someone to write a letter to the council asking for a promotion. It's something that's been bestowed upon him as a means of squeezing every use out of him possible and despite finally being "reborn" with his name returned, an offer of this magnitude, to go this far beyond the father that left him ever got, there isn't a fibre in his body that would turn it down.

The warn list is extensive, but all expired, so realistically who cares.

My main concern is your lack of Sr CL4 experience, or.. CL4 in general for that matter. You've only held two CL4 roles and it was an Assistant + MTF captain. Though there are good things you can learn from Assistant that you can bring into the role of Overseer, I do not believe you have the experience needed to fit into the role as one would expect. And MTF roles are.. Uhmm... Not the best for RP experience, shall we say?

hallo my goated former mentor!
so if you were to be accepted to be O5.
what are your future plans for A1/OSA?

Hey, Arrow!

I'll start with A-1 as it's the quickest to answer. A-1, organisationally and command wise is in a perfect spot. Has been for a long time now, I have absolutely no intention on even touching that aspect of A-1.

Duty wise? I would love to give A-1 the opportunity to conduct a wider array of operations. Surface never gets touched, this is due to it basically being the 'PvP' zone of the server. I would like to make a small impact in changing that. For example, joint SOP-IPD orders, Hit lists against priority GOI targets, joint IPD-DEA infiltrations, surface intelligence gathering... etc.

Inside of site, I would love to introduce the presence of A-1 into the high risk testing I previously mentioned wanting to create. A-1 in lore teach E-11 about SCP containment, now I would in no way plan to have E-11 under A-1 in anyway in that regard due to the servers gameplay loop however I would push for far greater cooperation between both MTF units with A-1 being pushed to heavily participate in learning and mastering containment procedures. What I plan for A-1 to do with this knowledge and enhance experienced, we'll just have to see.

Assistants. As a current Factotum I have seen how things are run, personally I would like to push for some changes (This will be heavily linked to my mentioned point of building greater relationships with OSAs).

Firstly, the personal assistants which from this point on I will refer to as "PAs". PAs are currently in a very weird spot, it's a very enticing system which doesn't really get used at all. I would be the first to change this, of course I have no control over how other O5s decide to use their PAs but here's how I would use mine. Firstly, I would treat my PA like a genuine right hand man. They go where I go, sit in the meetings I sit in and are kept up to date with my overall goals and tasks, if your own PA doesn't know what you're even up to then how are they gonna help you at all? Secondly, order management. If I create an order, I would assign my PA to be in a sense the "order manager". Their task would be to monitor the order's overall engagement by other assistants and provide input, clarifications and overall assistance to those who participate however this in no way would limit their own engagement, in fact I am more trying to promote my PA to take charge of the order so that they can gain critical leadership experience and get to enjoy a sense of autonomy in how they carry out my order.

But this would also hopefully affect more than just the PAs, lets say every PA followed this system. Then all of a sudden PAs are now actually quite valuable, I wonder what an O5 would do if someone so so important to themselves was taken from them by certain GOIs.

Now onto Factotums (some of this will apply to PAs too which are also factotums). For factotums, there's not really much I'd change. I'd love for factotums to have roster edit powers so they can properly document their own strikes, mentees and activity warnings however this has been proposed so many times that the reason seems quite clear as to why this has not been done. However, as PAs are all factotums and there's only enough factotum slots for 1 PA per O5, I believe the factotums will benefit greatly from my already outlines plans for PAs. This should really help factotums in the "what do I even do today" department as outside of the orders all OSAs do, there aren't exactly any specific factotum-RP duties outside of basic management and baby sitting other assistants.

Finally assistants, all of them. I would love to reintroduce a basic system of order cooperation and recognition. Starting with recognition, I want all OSAs who interact with my orders to feel a genuine sense of recognition. This means actively looking at my orders (which my PA may also be managing) and doing something as simple as a thumbs up to every response I read, small thing? Absolutely, but to some players and especially some that don't feel seen at all it can mean a lot and I might even take it a step further and write actual responses recognising their efforts.

Now that I have outline the most basic level of recognition, I will now state the new level of order cooperation I wish to introduce. As an OSA orders can be very hard to track at times, sometimes they don't get updated at all, get left to rot or even progress without a single update as to what stage they are on. I'd like to change that, on top of my own recognition of order contribution I would like to actually contribute myself. This means, as an order progresses through my own involvement, I will place updates to clarify what stage the order is at. This means at any time, an assistant can open an order, see exactly what needs to be done next and simply go do it. Assistants are already required update O5 on their order contributions so I should see no reason I should not update them.

Holy waffle, apologese to anyone who tries to read this response however it's better to say more in a case like this than say less. I would like to state as mentioned before on my app, any and all changes are subject to review upon actually getting the role (if I do) as the last thing I want to do is get accepted and suddenly start forcing things to change when others on the council may not want it to.
