Age: 20

In what country are you located?: Portugal

Time zone: GMT +1

Character name(s): BIllie Rosevelt (RSD), Miku Zaikatova (RSD if Accepted)

Civilian name: Billie

What server are you applying for?: SCP-RP UK

Do you have a mic?: Yes! But some times I dont use it as I dont want to disturb my family

List all whitelisted, MTF, or CI roles that you hold or have held:
Specialist Researcher, Executive Researcher and Curator

Have you received any kicks/bans/warning? and why?:
None!

Why are you applying for Director of Research?

I am currently applying to Director of Research because I feel like it would allow me to help the Research Department improve for the better!
As you probably heard me saying around, I feel like Research's potential is not being used correctly, which leads to people not wanting to join RSD properly. As the Director of Research, I want to keep on helping people enjoy doing Research just like me and most of the Leadership do.

There is also a secondary reason that I always have when making an application, career progression. I believe I gave my all as an Executive and Curator and want to take the next big step!

Another reason is that I have seen what happens to Research when there is only one Department Director. Laurence, despite the situations, did the best he could. While Curators and Executives when they do their job properly, help ease the workload, I do not believe it is the same.

What makes you suitable for Director of Research?
While my time in Research Leadership and on the server is quite short compared to my fellow Leadership members, I believe and hope I did a good job during that time.

I decided to take a more desk role, as I am doing the new Research Roster, every handbook that we have (Executive Handbook and Research Handbook), and even created the Curators and Specialist Handbook. All the handbooks are waiting for the new policy changes to be finalized so they can be changed and then approved, as they are very needed documents for the Research Department to function properly whenever someone has doubts.

Also, I did try to stay as active as possible on the server and to help as many people as possible, from simple things like teaching them how to use the computer or making a template for a specific discovery document, to helping plan big researches and projects. With other departments, I have always gone and helped personnel from Clearance Level 1 to 4 whenever they needed something from Research.

I also helped out with several situations, from simply allowing tests to happen, making my own tests, or working out and helping members of the community make their ideas come true. Recent examples of that are the research of Bjorn on amnestics and my sadly botched 049 x 008 test (I'm going to redo it soon) and a project that Noro Violet and I have that, if it gets accepted its going to be really fun.

Of everything, I believe Research Leadership should be approachable and show that they are willing to help everyone and defend their personnel when situations happen, as for new members on the server, it could be what makes them stay a bit more. I hope I showed that to everyone I have helped and met during this time.

What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP?:

As a Director of Research, we have several responsibilities, some simple and some that take more time and patience.

Accepting Executive Applications and doing their interviews

As the DoR, you and your fellow Leadership members will be analyzing the newer Executive Applications and seeing if they are fit to be part of the group that represents your department. If an application gets accepted, then the Directors of Research will arrange a meeting with said candidate and conduct an interview.

Being the Bridge between SA and your department

Directors of Research are expected to help Site Administration be aware of concerns and proposed changes within their department, sometimes with the help of their Liaison and other times by themselves directly.

Onboarding Executives and Curators
Youre also expected to help new members understand their new role and give them access to all the material and information they need to function properly in their job.

Deal with issues

Directors should also help with their department's problems, whether they are professional or other issues.

Handpick Curators

While this role is quite new and there are still some uncertainties about it, I believe Directors of Research are the ones who will pick the new Curators from the handful of Executives they have. But I assume the way the Curator role will be given out is still up for the Directors of Research to decide.

Managing Members

Directors need to make sure the department is moving smoothly and ensure that every member, especially Leadership and Specialists, is working properly, meeting their weekly requirements and showing up at least. If they are behaving in a way that does not meet the set standards and is staining the Research image, Directors should talk to them and if it comes to it, let them go.

Roleplay!

Just like Executives and Curators, DoRs are the foundation of roleplay in the department. They are the ones that allow several tests to happen and create opportunities for people to openly roleplay with others and have fun.

Please give some lore about your Director of Research character and what storylines they would be involved in

Miku doesnt remember her parents properly. The last time she saw them was when they dropped her off at her grandparents house at 6 years old.

They left to continue their work for the Global Occult Coalition, which led Miku to associate the GOC with her missing parents for most of her life.

It wasnt like their absence stopped them from controlling almost every aspect of her life and future.

They made sure she enrolled and was accepted into ICSUT and that, in the future she would work alongside them in the GOC, which is why they surely felt quite surprised when Miku disappeared right after finishing her education and started working for the SCP Foundation.

She loved working for the Foundation. Understanding the SCPs better was a rewarding job, and knowing that she was helping something so great continue to work made her feel like she finally belonged somewhere properly.

Miku rose through the ranks of the Research Department at Site-22 quite fast. Maybe it was due to her relentlessness towards not knowing things or the fact that she barely left the Site or slept and was always working.

Her nosy personality did end up annoying some people in the long run. She knows that! But shouldnt a researcher want to know more and research the unknown?

Despite this, Miku was promoted to Director of Research at Site-65.

This change scared her quite a lot, and at first she did not want to go. But after a close acquaintance told her that the gas prices were lower in Canada and the fact that there was a rat infestation in the Research Wing, she packed her bags in a hurry.

Now Miku is in a whole new country, a new Sit, and she knows no one. She is quite anxious to start her new job and hopes to get along with everyone and, well, to continue her nosiness.

(Since Miku is a whole new character, she doesnt exactly have any planned storylines, so Im free to all ideas and stuff that players and Game Mods want people for. Miku will also take over all of BIllie research, ongoing and planned projects.)

Okay so fore-word...
Billie is an incredible roleplayer, and handles lack of knowledge in RP well, when I asked for my clairvoyance grant and something confusing came up, she treated it with such grace it was so seamless IC, she pointed out in LOOC that she didnt know, got help, helped me IC, made it a wonderful experience. I've seen her while as K-33 and Medical and she's always got a good attitude and I think she would make a phenomenal DoR! Soooo, +SUPPORT!!

hell yeah!!
They put a lot of effort into their role within RSD and seem to balance CL4 activities with creating RP for multiple people. They are also very easy to interact with!!

Currently Billie has done a lot of amazing work for the research department, as they mentioned in their application they have done some amazing administrative work with helping me rework the entire policy handbook, doing the entire executive handbook solo and creating the specialist handbook and even making the entire roster(since ours broke).

Billie is an extremely talented person at creating large-scale scenarios for people to participate in and helps newer players settle in seamlessly; their skills are shown by the fact that they got the Curator role mere weeks after getting executive for the first time.

I remember first reading one of Billies docs and I knew instantly that she would be an amazing executive and she has proven that to the whole site and from my time working in SA I thought of her as a future DoR, I think she would be a good candidate to lead the department. I wish both applicants luck!
