Have you received any kicks/bans/warning? and why?
Nope. Why are you applying for Director of Research?
I have been in the Executive Researcher team for quite some time now and I believe that I am ready to move up within the department. In addition to this people have stated that the position suits me or have recommended me to apply for the role, which you now see before you. I also firmly believe that I will be able to benefit the department immensely and assist the current Director of Research (Dpt. Director James Lyndon Pennington) with managing and running the department. What makes you suitable for Director of Research?
One of my most notable skills, so I've been told, is documentation. Almost every single new research study I write, conduct and complete has received an excellent grading. In the "out of character" area, I have assisted in upgrading existing documentation, as well as being assigned new ones to complete. One of the most recent examples being the "Reward & Training Logger" spreadsheet: My changes included writing a custom script to automatically calculate how much money the department owed to which researchers and would display it on a separate spreadsheet, which Dpt. Director James Lyndon Pennington can verify. Documentation is an essential skill for a good Director of Research.I have also demonstrated my commitment to the department; very recently, I completed a renewed "Research Handbook". A forty-seven (47) page document that details the proper methods for conducting tests, writing excellent documentation and general etiquette. It can be found pinned to the back of the research board. The document did take a while to finish, with server rewrites and drafts before I was finally happy with it (I guess I am a bit of a perfectionist).
I conduct myself in a professional manner to other members of the department and other Foundation staff, setting an example for other members of my department. I am constantly reworking documents, lecture slides and other media so that they are of the best standard for showing/presenting to other members of the department. A good Director of Research should represent the department in a professional way and set an example for those around them.
What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research?
I'll list all the responsibilities here so that it is easily readable.- Managing and representing the Research Department, primarily the Executive Researcher team. Ensuring that they do their jobs, conduct lectures, train other researchers... etc.
- Being a Director of Research does not leave you exempt from basic executive work such as: hosting lectures, grading documents, training researchers.
- Setting an example: As a Director of Research, people will naturally turn to you for approval, advice and other things. Setting a good example reflects well on you and the whole department that you represent.
- Hosting regular lectures. Whilst I believe all researchers should try and do regular lectures anyway, it is especially important for a Director of Research to host them.
- Managing the department policies. The Director of Research can edit/change the policies that apply to the research department. These changes will more often time than not be new amendments to the policy. The Director of Research should also ensure that researchers are aware of new policy changes.
- Grading Documents. I believe a strict approach to document grading is absolutely necessary in order for people to truly learn how to properly write a document.
Please give some lore about your Director of Research character and what storylines they would be involved in:

File #0292-65 "Executive Researcher 'Millzy'"
Dr. Frederick 'Millzy' Mills
Security Clearance Level: 4 (Top-Secret)Personnel Classification: B
Staff Title: Executive Researcher
Working Site: Site-65
Education:
MIT
Frederick W.B Mills was born in Chiswick, London to A.L Browning and S.R Mills in November of 1985. Later moved to Oxford, Oxfordshire in 1992 so that Frederick may attend ███ ██████ ████████, Reading. Frederick left for MIT and subsequently the United States in July 2003.
Frederick studies Computer Science and Psychology at MIT and graduated eight (8) years later with a PhD in both subjects on the 19th of April 2012.
Frederick worked as a Software Engineer at the Oracle Corporation in the UK from 2013 to 2016. Frederick then co-founded an Artificial Intelligence research start-up named 'Synthwave' with childhood friend J.B Pyke. The company developed the first functioning AI assisted targeting computer and sold the research and a prototype to the Royal Air Force for £8 million in 2017. The company continued to develop AI assisted aerial equipment primarily in navigation and targeting.
In 2019 the company began the development of AI operated espionage equipment for MI6 to conduct unmanned missions into hazardous environments and territories. During a test run in ██████, ██████ a prototype accidentally captured a scan of the entrance zone to Site-██, before it was shot down by foundation SAM turrets. Foundation agents approached Frederick for interrogation. Frederick was generally polite and compliant, answering all questions the Foundation issued to him. Since the espionage project was contracted by the UK Government and the progress of the project was carefully monitored, Foundation Command decided that it would be more beneficial to work with Frederick rather than to dispose of him.
In March 2020, Frederick was recruited into the Foundation and Site-65's Research Department.
Frederick's psychological research on SCPs present at Site-65 allowed the foundation further insight into how to better control the SCPs and develop better containment measures. Since Frederick's employment, containment breaches caused by SCPs breaking out of their containment chamber has decreased by 11%.
Frederick became an Executive Researcher in April 2022, recruited by Dpt. Director Nyx Hart.
Frederick continued to conduct psychological research in addition to running a psychology "division" within the research department.
