What can you bring to the Global Occult Coalition?
Why do you want to join the Global Occult Coalition?
I love how roleplay-heavy and bureaucratic the UNGOC's operations are, as well as I love the concept of researching parathreats purely archival purposes and neutralisation; it really appeals to me as a subject for roleplay. In addition to this, I admire the Coalition's diplomatic operations; most notable, they have an agreement with the Chaos Insurgency and seeing the Coalition and the Insurgency interacting on a mutual agreement is inspirational. I wish to assist in the diplomatic area of the Coalition.Why was the Global Occult Coalition founded?
Before the Global Occult Coalition was founded the SCP Foundation already existed and had a stable holding on contained anomalies, this issue however is that the Foundation is a private organisation and operates independently of any government. The Global Occult Coalition grew out of the United Nations' desire to have their own organisation dedicated to protecting the world and humanity from the paranormal in addition to preventing another event similar to the Seventh Occult War from happening again.What does the PHYSICS, PSYCHE, and PTOLEMY Divisions specialize in and give an example of some functions they do?
| PHYSICS Division | PHYSICS is the Coalition's action branch. They specialise in the handling of external operations and threats; These can be as trivial as espionage and observation or as extreme as kidnappings and assassinations. PSYICS consists of Assessment Teams and Strike Teams accordingly. |
| PSYCHE Division | PSYCHE is the Coalition's diplomatic branch. Their goal is cooperating with the paranormal community as well as maintaining peace between governments and the occult powers. PSYCHE Special Observers observe investigations for possible emerging anomalous threats. PSYCHE Ambassadors maintain relations with non-hostile occult powers. |
| PTOLEMY Division | PTOLEMY is a miscellaneous part of the Coalition. They support the rest of the Coalition's operations and ensure the smooth operation of the organisation. This division usually handles documentation, logistics and research. Quartermasters handle the logistics side of the Coalition, handling everything from weapon distribution to the rationing of food and supplies. Research and Development (R&D) handle research into the development of new technology to be employed by the Global Occult Coalition and research into the neutralisation of anomalous objects |
What Are the Global Occult Coalition's goals?
The Global Occult Coalition operates under the principles of the "Fivefold Mission". As the name suggests, the Fivefold Mission is comprised of five goals:The First Mission: Survival
The Global Occult coalition shall always strive to maintain humanity's survival against the paranormal, parascientific, and paratemporal as their most important mission, overruling all others.The Second Mission: Concealment
The Global Occult Coalition shall always conceal the existence of the paranormal for the general public; Even knowledge of the existence of the paranormal would result in mass panic and heavy casualties.The Third Mission: Protection
The Global Occult Coalition shall always protect human individuals and Coalition operatives unless such protection is in conflict with the First and Second missions.The Fourth Mission: Destruction
The Global Occult Coalition shall always destroy parathreats, as the existence of parathreats themselves poses a threat to the first three missions; no unnecessary risks are to be taken.The Fifth Mission: Education
The Global Occult Coalition shall always make every effort to expand the base of knowledge regarding parathreats, in order to accomplish all other missions effectively.Please explain The Seventh Occult War.
In the late 19th century, a group of German occultists managed to capture and neutralise a being comprised of pure energy that was being worshiped as a god millennia ago. The destruction of the entity resulted in a mental backlash, causing feelings of nihilism in sensitive individuals. Philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche wrote "God remains dead. And we have killed him."in addition to other similar works, in which all are referring to the entity.
The residual energy from this event was attempted to be utilised by members of Nazi Germany, during World War Two (WWII), to complete an occult ritual known as "The Rite of Solomon". Details of this period are very sparse, what is confirmed is that the event sparked The Seventh Occult War, however nothing is known about the prior six. The Global Occult Coalition was founded after the war, in order to prevent similar events that may occur in the future.
What makes the Global Occult Coalition different in in-comparison to the other groups within the SCP-universe in your view?
Whilst the Foundation is unique in actively containing and researching the paranormal, and most other Groups of Interest either using paranormal objects and entities for their own militant goals, creating paranormal objects or worshiping paranormal entities; the Global Occult Coalition is unique in the fact that the group actively seeks to procure anomalous objects, and to maintain normalcy by neutralising or destroying the objects, whilst also maintaining diplomatic relations with other normalcy securing groups (like the Foundation).IC Section:
