Why are you applying for Director of Research?

I'm applying for Director of Research for a few reasons, the primary of which being that I care for the department as a whole. Throughout my years on the server the only department I have consistently played and returned to is the Research Department. It is, in my opinion, the core of the server. Everything either revolves around it, or around groups that exist to support/work with it. This means that the department requires a stable leadership to manage the members within it and the day-to-day activities. Executives tend to do a good job of this already, however I believe I could do this better as a Director. Additionally, it opens new opportunities for RP creation!

What makes you suitable for Director of Research?:

The main factor that I believe would make me suitable for the role, is the fact that I love RSD. From the members, to the loop, to the RP opportunities, there is not a single aspect of the Research Department that I do not enjoy. Even new members who act like minges are enjoyable to interact with, because if you can show them the appeal of the department, usually they come around and give it a genuine shot. My activity can be quite high at times, other times my schedule may become full for a little, but for the most part, I am usually available when needed!

I also believe it would be quite beneficial to have another GM as Director of Research, as I tend to focus my events and enhancements towards the department already, as can be seen with several GMObj inanimate SCPs on site, and many custom SCPs for events. This isn't to say a non-GM would not be suitable for the role, I just believe it gives me access to more tools that allow me to create more interesting RP opportunities for the department as a whole.​

What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP?:

A Director of Research is responsible for several things, such as:

Presence
A Director of Research should be actively present within the daily ongoings of the Research Department. They should be a common face so that lower ranked members of the department feel at ease when approaching them for requests, questions and authorisations.

Management of Executives
The go-to for help in the department is the Executives, they are the experienced researchers who have reached CL4 through time and effort. They know their way around the site and policies well, leaving them to help others with tests, ideas and authorisations. A Director serves as a similar helper role, but for the Executives. They're ready to help with any other questions, alterations to policies, high clearance authorisations and the likes. Additionally, a Director is tasked with managing and accepting new Executives who apply for the role, doing their interview and onboarding!

Policy Management
Directors are tasked with managing the policies of the department, with the help of Executives they create rules and systems that help the department and its members flourish. From sampling guidelines to testing policies, the Directors and Executives work together to set them in stone.

Authorisations
An Executive is the go-to for test authorisations, however at times there are things that they simple are not permitted to authorise that would require a Director's approval, in those situations a DoR is expected to authorise a test should it be suitable and fair to do so.

Senior CL4 Duties
A Director has generally similar duties to that of an Executive, however, they're required to handle a few other situations. Obviously, there are those I have already mentioned, however they are also tasked with liaising directly with Site Administration, keeping their documentation updated, managing posters, projects and activity. ​

I don't believe any other exec has had more of an impact on the day to day RP of a researcher when they hop on the role. As soon as Thistle logs onto Exec, the entire departments activities and RP change as Thistle creates scenarios and events that rope everyone in.

Ontop of that, Thistle has created some of the most popular SCPs on site, and definitely the most popular inanimates. They have a proven track record of improvements to RSD. They are also extremely kind to every researcher, supporting them not only as a GM, but as a guiding Executive for their experiments.

She has also helped with creating documents and policies, fueling sub-divisions and has always been willing to aid in anything that needed it.
I genuinely believe she would be the best choice for DOR and would do something special with the role.
