Why are you applying for Special Agent?
Up until I rejoined the community in 2026, I had the impression that DEA (Formerly known as Intelligence) was primarily a combat division with little to no roleplay opportunities and, since I decided to put my focus on passive roleplay scenarios, I never paid much mind to it. However, ever since I came back, I have come to realize that a great emphasis has been placed throughout my absence on the duties of External Affairs that are the most appealing to me: GoI research based on events and player-created scenarios, espionage and anomalous subplots that were, to a great extent, my favourite type of event to run back in my days as a Game Master, etc.

Thanks to these, I have had the chance to truly experience what External Affairs has to offer, and I have grown quite fond of the Department. As I believe that I am quite competent and can be of use to Site Affairs (I will talk more about my strengths on the next question), it just made sense to give the Special Agent position a go. I have done my best to adequately prepare for the role ever since I returned, talking to more experienced members and learning from them, as well from all the available documentation. While I am not perfect, I believe I could be of great use to the DEA if I was given this chance.

What makes you suitable for Special Agent?
I believe my most notable strength is my very ample experience in the community. Throughout the years, I have held all sorts of positions, from Ambassador to Site Director. These have helped me understand the ins and outs of most roles within the Foundation, CI, and GOC. This, of course, includes External Affairs, its goals, and its responsibilities, as well as what issues we may be facing and how to deal with them. Furthermore, most of the roles I have held were not only very insightful on the operations of departments such as External Affairs, but also positions that required me to actually be hands-on and put in the effort to achieve change and stability within the departments I led / was a part of.

Other than that, I truly enjoy teaching, which I believe is a quality any Clearance Level 4 Personnel should have, and I have grown quite fond of the DEA department and most of the members I have had the pleasure of interacting with, which will hopefully keep me motivated for a long time as I grow and learn in the position. I also believe my documents to be decent, and I think I have a few good operation and roleplay ideas that I would be able to implement and share with the division Managers if I held a Clearance Level 4 position.

How many documents have you written? What makes a document good?
Throughout my time in the server, I have written countless documents of varying nature. From Research Experiments to Investigations, my main focus has always been on passive Roleplay, so naturally I have ended up with quite a large number of documents written over time. Particularly, my time within Site Affairs and as Director of the Internal Security Department has required me to frequently create relevant documentation not only for character of story development, but also for actual functionality. Similarly, some of the events I hosted during my time as a Game Master required some form of writing.

On a more recent note, there are two primary documents I have created as DEA. The first one is a very detail report on a Group of Interest that attacked Site 65 back in 2023, all based on an event I created back in the day but never got around to properly documenting. It includes a report of the history I designed for them, their modus operandi, their goals, hierarchy, symbols, the Site 65 incident, etc. The second document is a manifesto where I have attempted to design new ways to weaponize D-Class personnel against hostile Groups of Interest and how to procure more, better D-Class for said purpose, all done by interviewing experts on each of the discussed topics (Executive Researchers, Senior Doctors, etc). This document is not really all that practical, but it sure is fun to work on.

As for what makes a document good, I believe there are two pillars. A document needs to be, first and foremost, either useful or entertaining. If it can be both, then even better, although I do not think this always need to be the case (a guide or handbook does not need to be entertaining, and a report done for the sake of lore-building does not need to be useful, just a good read). Nevertheless, a text that fulfills both requirements is ideal. From there on, it is all about formal aspects: formatting, the use of images, clear and easy to understand language that is not excessively simplistic, the use of decorative elements, etc.

What are the responsibilities of the Special Agent in RP?
Special Agents, as Junior Clearance Level 4 personnel, have a wide variety of responsibilities. First and foremost, they are in charge of the entirety of External Affairs when they are the highest ranking individual on duty, and as such they are expected to command all personnel accordingly and with the best interest of the Foundation and the Department in mind. Furthermore, they are in charge of the training of new agents, as well as holding tryouts for Agents wanting to become Senior Agents, as well as Senior Agents wanting to become Field or Undercover Agents. Another thing Special Agents are expected to do is help the Manager of whichever Office they are a part of (Advanced Warfare, Chemical Gathering & Usage, etc). Other than that, they are also in charge of leading field operations, and approving specific actions and/or tools such as QRF and Infiltration missions. Other than that, they have the same responsibilities as most other Junior Clearance Level 4 personnel (actively taking a leadership role, encouraging department members to engage in operations and follow all rules, authorising AA during specific circumstances, etc.)

Please give some lore about your Special Agent character and what storylines they would be involved in.
The following lore is the previous storyline of my character but with modifications in order to meet this application's criteria (DEA-related content) and some of the events that my character has been a part of that are relevant for the position.

Born to a single mother after his father was executed by the Hungarian communist regime, Viktor Katona's career as a soldier began when he joined the Magyar Honvédség (Hungarian Defence Forces) as an officer after graduating from the Officer's Academy with outstanding performance and grades. It didn't take long for the Alkotmányvédelmi Hivatal (Constitution Protection Office), Hungary's main Intelligence Agency to show interest in him. Just a few years after joining the army, he was offered a position in said Agency, which he accepted. He was trained in counterintelligence and anti-corruption operations. His remarkable work managed to help him climb through the ranks rather quickly, earning him a commanding position in a relatively short period.

He reached peak performance when he conducted Operation ██████ in ████, managing to uncover a corruption ring that involved several politicians, high-ranking public officials, army and police commanders, and even foreign diplomats. It was this Operation Of Dantesque proportions that earned him the Hungarian Order of Merit, and also what caused the Foundation to start showing interest in him.

Shortly after the mentioned Operation was finished, Katona was recruited by the Foundation due to his previous performance and abilities. Even though he was originally meant to be an Intelligence Agent due to his years in the Alkotmányvédelmi Hivatal, his expertise in anti-corruption operations made him a perfect candidate for IA. His previous experience allowed him to do a good job as an Agent, which eventually earned him the position of Ambassador. Now, willing to continue what previous Department Leaders have achieved and willing to build upon it to keep the IA the great department it is, he is trying to make his way toward Director.

Transcript IA.4.333-B
Roual Maot: Katona, have you checked the new documents on the corkboard?
Viktor Katona: I have, as a matter of fact. I can't believe ██████ broke the code of ethics in such a way and thought he'd get away with it...
Roual Maot: Yeah, good thing Agent █████ was in the area and managed to see it. That's the third arrest on this issue in a week...
Viktor Katona: Agreed. We need to continue working on it, the more we uncover, the fewer infractions will be committed.
Roual Maot: Certainly. By the way, how did the amnestication of ██████ go?..
Viktor Katona: Well it certainly [...]

After becoming Director of Internal Affairs thanks to his duty as Ambassador, Katona went on a full campaign to crack down on corruption within the Foundation. Thanks to Operation 'Growing Tomatoes' (later renamed to 'Operation Mata Hari'), dozens of cases of rule breaks from personnel ranging from CL3 to CL4 were uncovered and reported to Ethics. Unfortunately, the Department of Internal Affairs would take a tragic loss with the death of Roual Maot, which led to Katona being the only Director within the Department for the rest of his career as DoIA.

During his time in the position, he pushed plenty of policies to ensure the well-being of Foundation Personnel, such as agreements with E-11 as to when and how Agents could enter HCZ, Weapon Checkpoints with very strict coordination and strategies by D-Block to avoid intruders and/or armed researchers to enter the security checkpoint and cause havoc, encouraging more investigations to be run by agents, etc.

D-Block checkpoint (1) and training session (2) for IA agents, two policies introduced by Katona.

After a very fruitful period as DoIA, Katona finally stepped down from the position in order to let new eager, more talented ambassadors take the position, as he strongly believed that hoarding that position forever would simply mean that eventually, he would grow tired and stop being truly helpful to Internal Affairs. Due to these reasons, he left for Site ███, where he would continue to work as an Internal Affairs ambassador for several months. Luckily for him, his will to keep improving and helping the foundation wouldn't go unnoticed by Site Administration.

Viktor Katona: You called me, sir?
Site Director ██████ ████: Yes, Katona, have a sit. We've received news from Site 65.
Viktor Katona: I see. Anything important, sir?
Site Director ██████ ████: Certainly. They wish you to join their Site Administration team.
Viktor Katona: Well, that's... That's certainly an honor, sir! But I wouldn't want to simply leave, that would mean tons of trouble for my coworkers.
Site Director ██████ ████: Don't be an idiot, Katona. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You have the experience, you have the capabilities, I am not accepting a no for an answer.
End of Transcript

Before he returned to Site 65, he of course made sure to leave all of his pending duties dealt with. Unfortunately, a week before his final transfer and consequent promotion, a breach in Site ███ exposed him to SCP-████, which turned him into SCP-████-3 and, therefore, Class-E personnel for a few weeks. Nevertheless, he managed to fully recover, but at a high price: he had to have his eye removed surgically in order to avoid the anomalous infection from killing him. Seven other people were infected, from which five died. The researcher blamed for the breach was sentenced in a tribunal and hung himself while in custody.

After his return to Site 65, it didn't take long for a struggle between the Ethics Committee and the O5 to take place. With SA caught in the middle of this chessboard of power and politics, it didn't take long for Katona to side with the Council due to the unspeakable horrors that Ethics were perpetrating in order to maintain order within the site. This was reinforced even more by the protection granted to him and other Advisors by the Council and A-1, but the thing that affected him the most was the surgery performed by O5-2 'The Cortex' in which he ████████ ████ ████████ ██ ███ Bionic eye ████████ ███ ████████████████ ████.

As things calmed down and time passed, Katona saw Directors and managers come and go for several reasons, and he knew Site Administration needed new leadership now more than ever. He had big plans and ideas; they wouldn't be easy to perform, but he trusted himself and the other Advisors, as well as the entirety of the Site personnel. From this point onward, only time could tell what was in store for him.

His time as a Site Director brought great progress to the Site. None of Katona's policies changed the core of any of Site 65's functioning principles, but he achieved improvement in a lot in inter-departmental matters, being the first Director to formally establish documents fomenting the cooperation between divisions, regiments, and departments that had never done so before. Not only that, but he reinforced existing treaties and created new ones that were very much needed, all in close cooperation with the Ethics Committee, the O5 Council, and his Site Advisors and Managers.

Not only did he promote cooperation and unity, he also assisted in the removal of several COs and Department Leaders who were a burden to the Foundation and its progress. Nevertheless, his time in Office was strongly based on building, not destroying. Katona had to, unfortunately, return to Europe for two years due to unknown circumstances. Shortly after his departure Site 65 faced several challenges, the most notable event being the [DATA EXPUNGED], involving O5-█ and the ██████████ ███ ███████ of Pinewood.

Katona returned to Site 65 on ██████ of ████, immediately being assigned to work on his area of expertise, the Internal Security Department (formerly known as Internal Affairs), a department he led for several months with great success. While he quickly got up to speed with all the updates that took place during his absence, a new opportunity presented itself when he was given the chance to work for the Department of External Affairs, where he participated in activities that related to his original expertise in Intelligence. He researched Groups of Interest, liaised with other departments, wrote reports, and investigated Personnel of Interest within the walls of Site 65 to great success, all with the support of the External Affairs Command team, earning him an early promotion to Senior Agent and Undercover Agent.
