Chaos Insurgency - Alpha (Holding)
Have you received any kicks/bans/warning? and why?
I have not received any kicks/bans/warnings.
Why are you applying for Executive Researcher?
I've long had a craving for more open-ended RP that I've felt has been lacking in most departments I've attempted to get involved with. Research was, ironically, the first department I went to yet the last I was able to really explore due to the steep grind associated with Jr. Researcher. That last part was due in part to the lack of Executives I often saw during the early morning hours of my timezone- a fact attributed to my overnight scheduling in my career. Now that I have gotten to immerse myself in the department and interact more closely with fellow roleplayers within this biome of the server, I want to be able to not only explore further avenues of the role but enable others who are just starting out to do so as well.
What makes you suitable for Executive Researcher?
I am someone who:
How many excellent-graded documents have you written? What makes a document excellent?
To my knowledge I have written 6 confirmed Excellent rating documents.
There are many factors that make a document excellent - formatting, findings, descriptive language, and more.
Formatting documents assists readers with quickly and efficiently digesting information in a way that is conducive to learning, a vital tool to maintaining professionalism and presentation of the SCP Foundation. It also includes grammatical fixes, something which contributes to an excellent document - while some can certainly submit documents with amazing discoveries, the formatting of their documents can really impact the impact said discoveries have on the reader. Having a clear, detailed goal to base your listed methods upon ensures that you are seen as exemplary among our valued explorers of the unknown.
Following the Excellent Format Guidelines, the following is needed:
These items below are optional, but can be added when you want to accentuate a certain flair for favored tests:
Let us not forget a silent but important part of excellent papers - descriptive vocabulary! It is easy to throw words down on a document in the right order to convey what information you wish to share. The difficult part is to weave them into a tapestry of sounds that not only enrapture any given reader, but also invite them to see from your point of view. No matter how incredible your discovery might be, there is always a chance that a lack of intonation and flow could be the one thing preventing your innovative ideas from being delivered. After all, we all want to be recognized for our due diligence, don't we?
What are the responsibilities of the Executive Researcher in RP?
Responsibility is a sharp note to swallow. On the one hand, Executives are given a great deal of authority within their department to both manage and oversee a slew of tests that are crafted by their subordinates within the department. They are among the first tool for less experienced researchers to go to when they aren't quite sure where to begin; an outlet to vet any questions they might have for a given test they want to keep within departmental standards. It is not uncommon for many Executives to have a gaggle of wayward souls dogging their steps seeking the wisdom they have garnered over the many months they've been an active part of their site. Simply being in the role is a chance to influence the next generation of researchers that could even amount to their own executive positions one day.
Of course, it is not always about guidance. To be in a place of authority comes with its own tasks as well. The most notable (and frequent) of these is the reading and judgement necessary of all experiment logs that are submitted through SCIP.NET. Maintaining a consistent quality within the database provides those looking for inspiration a wealth of content to pull from. Even before the document itself is uploaded, it's important to supervise the tests that occur on site- particularly by those just getting used to their new station- in order to prevent bad habits from forming and help encourage the ones necessary to help them thrive.
In the end, if I had to summarize what it means to be an executive, I would liken it to a teacher. Someone who provides the tools for others to excel at their field out of a sense of altruistic investment- at least to some degree. If not here to promote education and understand, why else stay within the department?
Please give some lore about your Executive Researcher character and what storylines they would be involved in:
"-no I'm perfectly comfortable. Really, you don't need- Oh, is it on? Terribly- Yes, yes of course. Ahem."
"Hello! My name is Doctor Cornelius Darby. I'm a researcher for the SCP Foundation, currently stationed at site-65 in- ah, an undisclosed location of northern Canada. This morning marks my third consecutive month of employment within the facility, and thus they wished to have this audio file record my state being for the benefit of those who would wish to consider my psychological profile. Personally, I believe this could have been handled via an in-person interview, but I understand the benefits that lie in analysis capable via third party involvement.
"Prior to my involvement in anomalous studies, I graduated from Carnegie University under a double major in both Parasocial Psychology and Educational Psychology, with a failed attempt at biopsychology during my first two years. Following my graduation I then continued on to obtain my certification in applied practice concerning subjects of major duress with an emphasis on self-actualization. Put succinctly, I worked with those of trauma in the pursuit of reclaiming their lives.
"During this time, I had been making attempts to investigate potential ways of averting or outright negating the harmful effects of devastating mental disabilities such as Alzheimers, dementia, anti-social disorder, et cetera. While I had a strong grasp of the effects and lateral changes caused by the chemical imbalances caused by the symptoms and treatments alike, I simply couldn't accept that modern medicine had still failed to make any progress whatsover in understanding how to combat the afflictions. Due to some, in hindsight poor decision making on my part, I began to delve into more obscure biblioterica regarding the subject. Without wasting all the tape on my exact findings, I found my attention brought to an online chatroom concerning a small town in the Canadian outback that claimed to have proof of a 'miracle pill'.
"Naturally I wrote it off as inane chatter common to the internet, but weeks of pointless research had left me a tad desperate it would seem. Against better judgement, I took an extended holiday and hired a guide to take me to this rural town in order to get to the truth of the matter myself. Well... Just my being here begets the ending, but when I arrived and started asking the wrong questions, I inevitably garnered the attention of the Intelligence Organization- the DEA as they were known before their merger in past weeks. After what I assume was a background check done on me, they approached me with an offer. One that, as you can see, I accepted.
"I'm not sure what I was thinking at the time; honestly, can you imagine just going with some shady people in the middle of nowhere with a claim of forbidden knowledge? I didn't even have any idea they could induce amnesia at the time. For all I know, a simple 'No' would have led to me disappearing! Knowing what I do now however, I doubt I could ever go back to change anything. Especially not since all this talk of reality bending has started to get discussed..."

I am someone who:
- Is approachable and eager to assist colleagues looking for help
- willing and able to follow guidelines of the Code of Ethics to help ensure a safe and efficient testing environment for foundation staff
- won't settle for simple answers when so much more exists to be discovered; hesitation has no place in asking further questions
- wants to create a precedent for future scientists to use when working with anomalies
- can help guide future research specialists into becoming the best they can be

Following the Excellent Format Guidelines, the following is needed:
- An Index to provide ease-of-access for all contents in a document.
- SCP Information to give background on the SCP(s) in question, and to also highlight what is not known well about the SCP being studied.
- The purpose of the study to provide a motive as to why this study is being conducted, and how it benefits the Foundation (i.e. to discover more of an SCP or otherwise derive practical applications thereof).
- A methods/preparations section to explain in detail what and who are needed for the study, and steps that’ll be taken to ensure the success of the study.
- The participants involved (including Medical and Security personnel) that helped make the test a success.
- The hypothesis that the Researcher has regarding the outcome of their study.
- The Results/Findings of the study, highlighting what was discovered, what was said that is note-worthy, and overall providing evidence to support/oppose the hypothesis.
- Finally, the Conclusion, which elaborates on what was discovered, if the hypothesis was proven to be true or false, and more.
These items below are optional, but can be added when you want to accentuate a certain flair for favored tests:
- A cover page that displays the test name, including the logo of the SCP Foundation or Research Department.
- A page for Authorization so that anyone that needs to authorize a test can easily access that page.
