It has been 4 months since I came back to CG SCPRP. I first joined back in 2023 but left a year or two later for personal reasons.

Age:

Real Age: 19 Character Age: 37

In what country are you located?

Canada. Home of poutine and maple syrup!

Time zone:

EST Time Zone.

Character name(s):

John ‘Bean’ Atkinson. He is nicknamed Bean for being a bit of a goof at times.

Civilian name:

Hubert Marvin, nicknamed Bum for being the poorest resident in Pinewood.

What server are you applying for? (SCP-RP UK or SCP-RP USA):

SCPRP-US

Do you have a mic?

Yes. I do have a mic.

List all whitelisted, MTF, or CI roles that you hold or have held:

I don’t play MTF or CI, but I have been on and off on GOC as a Sgt.

Have you received any kicks/bans/or warnings? And why?

I am unsure how to check my bans and kicks, but fortunately I haven't received either ever since I rejoined the server. I did get warned for name con (Michael ‘Office’ Scott), which I really didn’t know fell under the rule. I was also warned for an RDM for killing a thaum after he teleported inside the execs' office and materialized a weapon for me. That wasn’t me on my best behavior, to be honest.

Why are you applying for Director of Research?

Just like my titled project, "Revamp," I want to revamp RSD completely. I've been working hard with my friend Andrew Snow (Omen Fairway) to make the learning curve of research easier to bypass so that they can actually start having fun. I feel like a lot of promising researchers are overlooked merely because of their rank, and so I want to directly involve myself in taking in these promising researchers as my proteges of sorts. I want to get them involved in massive projects and allow them to showcase their skills to the "upper echelon" just as my previous director, Min Vagabond, did for me. I strongly believe that if I make research easier and get directly involved with my juniors, I can not only weed out the minges but also allow the promising ones to grow!

What makes you suitable for Director of Research?:

I would say my ability to create small storylines with random people on site is my strong suit. I like creating lore and participating in lore whenever I can. I love just creating a "living" environment where the RP feels grounded and realistic. I want to give future RSD members the same chances to LARP and participate in massive projects just as I was given by my wonderful directors. These small storylines can then become huge events in the future, such as the UnLondon event.

I strongly believe that my ability to spot promising researchers that I can grow and cultivate is also one of my suitable traits. I love speaking with my juniors and making a profile of them in the goal of understanding what kind of character they are trying to play. Being able to give those promising RSD members the chance to create a storyline with people that they can't access normally is what I wish to strive for as a director.

What are the responsibilities of the director of research in RP?

Our responsibilities are, or at least should be:

-Inciting juniors to LARP and to create RP. I strongly believe the backbone of SCPRP is the researchers. Without any roleplayers, the server just devolves to PvP combat.

-Supervising Performance of the Department. The director needs to ensure that RSD is performing adequately to FCom's expectations.

-Creation of Events or Massive RP. The director should work on projects that allow not only researchers to have fun but also the combatants. Allowing both parties to have fun was my goal with the UnLondon Expedition!

-Directly Assisting Promising Jrs. While this responsibility may be more of an executive's job, I strongly believe the director should bring a few promising juniors around with them so that they can also have the possibility to engage with the “upper echelon” (FCOM) and so they can get an idea of what kind of work is waiting for them once they reach this role.

-Serving as a middle ground for FCom. The director should always keep in contact with both FCOM factions to serve as a sort of middle ground for both. RSD should be a way for FCOM to work together for once instead of being at each other's throats all the time. Working on large-scale projects where the work is given to trusted executives or researchers depending on how classified the project is.

Please give some lore about your Director of Research character and what storylines they would be involved in:

John Atkinson is a Stanford University graduate who was tricked by The Foundation while he was visiting a friend in Montreal who had joined a group named “Parawatch.” This connection to an individual carrying sensitive data on the foundation is what brought the attention of the foundation onto John. John would share his friend's documents with his university colleagues and friends. John and many other university students were taken into foundation custody for “recruitment.” The Foundation gave these people two choices: Join the Foundation and deep dive into the unknown, or return to your mundane life. Most people had chosen the blue pill, but not John. He knew exactly at that moment what God had put him on this earth for. To protect humanity by understanding anomalies and keeping them safe and contained from the general public until something could be done with them. John shook the Devil’s hand and signed a predatory contract with the Foundation, landing him in the research department.

As a Sr. Researcher, John Atkinson was actively involved in massive projects thanks to his director and benefactor, Min Vagabonds. He wrote Project Flesh Citadel under the orders of SI Grant. He continued to write brilliant projects, but without the proper authorization he could never conduct the research itself. He shortly became an executive after being pushed by his executive, Josh Blondeau, and site advisor, Chub.

As an executive, John Atkinson was more focused on taking care of the background stuff, leading him to forget about the joys of research, but he took under his wing multiple promising researchers that he tried his hardest to lead towards becoming an executive. He would grow to fear site inspection after witnessing them killing and kidnapping foundation personnel. This led him to affiliating himself with Assistant Richards and making a secret vow to serve the Ethics Committee. This feeling was strengthened after he was trusted with Project EP by the Ethics Committee. He would assist the Ethics Committee in hiding Andrew Snow from site inspection after his friend was threatened by them. This led to John being tortured on FL3 and causing him deep trauma. He would briefly disappear from the site for 3 weeks before returning to the site.

In those 3 weeks, John was continuously tortured and injected with Class A amnestics as a form of torture. Class E was used on John so that he forgets about the existence of Andrew Snow. He would only be kept alive as a lure to catch Andrew. On his return, he would focus on hosting expeditions outside of Site-65.

As John returned to the facility, he inserted a mysterious device, which he would claim was for his health. After the disappearance of Josh Blondeau, he would again be administered Class E to forget the existence of Josh Blondeau, but he would thankfully be given Class X to remember everything that has happened to him.

On the surface, he would look cool and collected, but inside he is continuously in a perpetual state of paranoia and fear. This fear will continue to bubble inside of him, slowly turning into anger towards FCom. He would promise himself to someday take revenge against the people that made him suffer.

Since returning to RSD, I have seen Bean consistently demonstrate the exact skills and qualities that make him an excellent fit for the DoR position. His dedication is highlighted by his rapid responsiveness to departmental needs, a scrupulous and meticulous approach to anything he endeavors to do, regardless of scope, and a seemingly inextinguishable passion for research.

++Support Bean has been my mentor since day 1. Helped mould me into the researcher I am today. Bean is one of the biggest contributors to RP and meaning full change within RSD. This man will give anyone the time of day. He is goofy and can make many of the RSD members to laugh and have a great time. When Bean enters a room he lights it up no matter the mood! Id be very happy and know RSD is in good hands if Bean got DoR.

I have had so many fun and interesting interactions with Bean since my return to the server. I have never had a complaint about his actions or personality. He has been constantly creating very interesting and exciting tests to do while helping anyone with their own tests. His most recent tests, which involve personnel from all divisions, have been a fantastic idea and amazing for site relations. This is going to be extremely interesting to watch, and I'd be happy if either candidate got chosen for the position!

Bean has been amazing to work with! They've been immensely helpful in my RSD journey and their patience with my silly questions will always garner my respect. Would make an amazing Director!
