Discord name: KARMACIUS#2943 / KARMACIUS

For how long have you played on CG SCP:
I started playing in late November and accrued 100+ hours on the server.

Age: 17

In what country are you located?:
USA

Time zone:
EST (Eastern Standard Time)

Character name(s):
Karma Anderson

Civilian name:
Karma Bennington

What server are you applying for?:
SCP-RP USA

Do you have a mic?:
Yes, I do.

List all whitelisted, MTF, or CI roles that you hold or have held:
N/A

Have you received any kicks/bans/warning? and why?:
Yes. I have received two warns, one for FailRP and the other for RDM. Both stemmed from the same incident where I killed an MTF in an attempt to start a civilian rebellion and get some engaging roleplay during low server-pop. I did roleplaying similar to this a couple weeks prior to this incident, and it was received warmly by the playerbase and staff alike (though admittedly it was more focused on infobreaching rather than direct confrontation), so I didn't think that it'd be poorly received. Rest assured, I made amends with the person I killed and the staff member whose time I occupied.

Why are you applying for Medical Consultant?:

I love this server, the medical team, and the SCP Foundation deeply. I want to enrich the roleplay experience of myself and others as much as possible. For these reasons, I signed up for the medical team when I first joined the server and immediately gravitated toward the new RP intensive therapy subdivision. From the moment I joined the server, I had a vision of who I wanted my character to be. I think that they would fit the role of Medical Consultant wonderfully and add to the CG SCP-RP experience.

What makes you suitable for Medical Consultant?:
I'm great at communication. What I say and write tends to make a splash, and it's resulted in some of the most pleasant roleplay experiences I've ever had with others. People have praised me directly for the times I've had with them, even hours or days after the RP ended. I know paperwork better than a printer. One of my fondest early memories of the server is doing a write-up on why mental health is critical for the SCP Foundation's operations and posting it on the medical board, only to see it still hanging there the next day and getting approached by other doctors commending my work. A day later, the Therapists were formed. It felt exactly like my calling. I'm a smartass, but stoic when it's time to get serious. I've been playing Doctor and Combat Medic nonstop from the moment I was able to play both. I've got all the qualifications for Consultant and then some.

Please explain an in-game medical procedure of your choice:
In honor of my timezone, let's cover electroshock therapy (EST) in detail:

1. Determine the patient's condition(s). Electroshock therapy can be used to treat appendicitis, asthma, cancer, change of uniform through 914, cognitohazard exposure, and Stoneman syndrome. There are also some phenomena not officially listed that can be treated with EST, such as loss of the hands from exposure to SCP-330. Generally speaking, though: if it's not on the list, it's likely not treatable with EST. Therefore, ask the patient or their escort about the former's condition.
2. If the patient is eligible for EST, ask if they have been revived before in this life. EST will not work on patients that have already been revived. If their answer is no, move on to step 3. If it's yes, they're ineligible to receive EST.
3. Give the patient the terms & conditions of EST, such as the possible risk of permanent death and to not go into the light (/looc Do Not Respawn), then ask the patient if they consent to electroshock therapy. This is to ensure that the patient has informed consent. If they say 'no', terminate the procedure. If they say 'yes', move to step 4.
4. Ask the patient to face away from you to prevent panic at the sight of the medical harpoon, which could increase heartrate and thus the risk of complications. Ensure that they're in a semi-open area, away from any entities that they could potentially get stuck inside of upon revival.
5. Send the medical harpoon right into them. Immediately tell the patient 'do not go into the light', pick up your harpoon, and begin using the defibrillator to resuscitate the patient.
6. Once the patient has been revived, use your first aid kit to get them back up to full health.
This procedure can only be done by licensed personnel; therefore, trainees and chemists cannot perform EST. Medical harpoons cannot be given out to anyone and harpoons must be taken from the harpoon rack, which is only accessible by medical personnel. EST cannot be performed outside of a sterile medical zone (exception: Nu-7 performing EST in garage for suspected disguised personnel).

What are the responsibilities of the Medical Consultant in RP?:
Discipline, perform, lead, train.
  • Discipline medical staff who violate medical guidelines,
  • Perform procedures that CL3 personnel cannot,
  • Lead by example and show licensed personnel how to be assets to the medical team,
  • Train unlicensed personnel by providing tests and feedback on their results.

Please give some lore about your Medical Consultant character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Dr. Anderson is stuck here, just like you. A cog in the machine. Fresh out of an Ivy League and starstruck by the prospect of a highly-paying, lucrative job with plenty of NDA's to sign, the same thing happened to him that happened to any of us. The glitter and glamor shattered on the first day, where the overworked and underrecognized trainee sprinted about D-Block, pressing blood-soaked cloths to knife wounds and narrowly avoiding gunshots from persistent riots. A void in the soul opened up beneath them and offered to swallow them up whole, but Anderson refused. Week after week, he saw colleagues from the medical bay emerge either frighteningly enthusiastic or numb to the horrors that surrounded them. When Anderson tried seeking help for his own mental state, his pleas were overlooked, much like the pain and suffering of his co-workers. A change needed to happen. Harboring spite for the bullet-brained murderers in GENSEC and the lack of external resources to help, Dr. Anderson jotted their protest piece, 'Mental health is real,' and hung it on the medical board for all to see. It shared their experiences of having trauma from the facility downplayed, and emphasized the dangers of an overworked mind in a place like the Foundation.

Things didn't change overnight. While the Therapists were formed, psychiatrists became prominent, and mental health awareness spread further, there is still much work to be done. It's nowhere near enough. With confidence, grit, and determination, there's no rank that Anderson would stop at to make this horrible place just a little more bearable.
