What makes you the best candidate for Ethics Committee Assistant?:

I believe I would be a strong candidate for ECA because I have consistently shown that I am active, dependable, and willing to put in the effort whenever im on the site. Throughout my time as an ISD Inspector, I’ve had many opportunities to handle investigations, write detailed reports, enforcing the Foundation Legal Codex, and make fair decisions in situations where remaining a unbiased clear level-head that is important. Those responsibilities have helped me develop strong leadership skills within my own department and taught me how important professionalism, communication, and accountability are. I always try to lead by an example and show others the standards I expect from I, myself. Whether I’m helping newer members in the foundation, working with my team, or handling difficult situations. My goal has always been to maintain a certain level of respect, approachability, and being focused on solving problems properly, and not just easily. I believe one of my best qualities is consistency as well as being proactive and looking for ways in which I can be helpful instead of waiting for somebody else to take the lead. I take pride in doing good and doing everything with the utmost professionalism, ensuring that my work meets all the standards of the position. Another trait of a good leader is earning people's trust and respect as well as being communicative, and making fair decisions. These are all qualities that I have continued to build and will hope to keep building, and I know this will allow me to be a proactive ECA. I am always willing to learn, accept feedback, and improve so I can better support both the Ethics Committee and the Foundation.

What are the responsibilities of Ethics Committee Assistants in RP?:

ECA’s are responsible for representing the Ethics Committee and ensuring that the Foundation operations are carried out professionally, ethically, and in accordance with the Foundation Legal Codex (Code of Ethics & Code of Conduct). Their main responsibility is to assist the Ethics Committee Members by carrying out their tasks assigned to them, monitoring departments and day to day operations, and reporting any ethical or procedural concerns they see. ECA’s may be assigned to oversee individual departments and/or operations, identify recurring issues, and provide reports to keep the Ethics Committee informed about what’s going on in the foundation. They may also conduct inspections to ensure departments are following policies and maintaining ethical standards. To add on, ECA’s are able to help around the foundation when it comes to other departments, with Research if a Researcher needs a document signed with an Ethics approval I could assist. When it comes to the Internal Security Department if a Judge is needed and review the evidence to determine if a full tribunal is needed. ECA’s also act as a bridge between the Ethics Committee and the rest of the departments, helping communicate concerns, helping with policies. Beyond any responsibilities pertaining to their duties, they are always expected to remain professional, impartial, and fair at all times when handling with different kinds of situations. Overall, the role of being an ECA is to not only support the Ethics Committee but to help the Foundation as a whole, upholding the Foundation’s ethical standards, assist in maintaining accountability across the site, and help create fair, professional, and meaningful roleplay for everyone involved.

Please give some lore about your Ethics Committee Assistant character and what storylines they would be involved in:

Armando de los Santos was born in Peru to a family with an Italian background. During the younger years, he became close with organized crime, this is where he learned discipline, loyalty, and how to read people, but he suddenly realized that the life he was living had no real world impact nor purpose. He wanted to leave that world behind and dedicated himself with science and joined a private organization. Through his work and his determination he rose to the top and became one of the best researchers within the department. His achievements caught the attention of the SCP Foundation. Leading to his recruitment as a Junior Researcher at Site-65. After joining the Site, Armando quickly adapts to the new nature of his surroundings and worked his way through the ranks of the Research department eventually becoming a Cartographer. While doing research, he started to notice ethical issues that many others ignored. He witnessed researchers conducting experiments without approval, unnecessary risks being taken with personnel, poor treatment of D-Class beyond what was authorized, and departments cutting corners simply to speed up results. One thing that made Armando change his life at the Foundation was during one of his experiments using a portal into another dimension he stumbled upon what seemed to be a department well known, called “Site Inspection”. He couldn’t believe his eyes he saw a man with a machete cutting off a Junior Researcher’s hand, all from what it seemed like a simple mistake. Rather than staying silent, he wrote these incidents and reported them through the proper channels, believing that the Foundation could only do its mission if it upheld his own standards. His professionalism, reports, and willingness to hold every person to the same ethical standard, eventually drew the attention of the Ethics Committee. With their confidence in his integrity and neutrality, they provided him with a job offer as an Ethics Committee Assistant. In this capacity, Armando was involved in departmental inspections, following the Ethics Committee's orders, evaluating research proposals, looking into misconduct cases, and making sure all operations at the site were consistent with the Foundation's Legal Codex. Working together with the people from the foundation, he managed to fix any problem before it escalated, getting known as a person who was both fair and very strict. Even though some might have considered him a strict person, almost everyone respected him because he made decisions not only on the basis of evidence and policy but also believing that the Foundation would be able to save humanity while sticking to its principles.
