I've spent a lot of time in the Medical Department and I've had a tremendous time with it. I've seen the department at its best and I've seen the department at its worst and I'd really love the opportunity to help it flourish. I already do everything I can as a Senior Doctor to help the department succeed, but I believe I can do so much more as a Consultant. Director Cherokee just resigned, so I believe now would be a good time to bring in some fresh faces with new ideas to help reform the department into something great.
What makes you suitable for Medical Consultant?:
I like to think that I'm pretty light-hearted and bring a positive energy to any room I walk into. I do my best to set a good example for other members of Medical and I know when its time to be serious and professional. I've studied medical knowledge outside of the normal expectations to ensure I can create a unique experience for each patient and I've spent lots of time learning how the department runs day-to-day. I'm also generally a late-night player, so I believe I could help cover and time slot that other consultants may not be able to.
Please explain an in-game medical procedure of your choice:
One of the most common medical issues I see on Site-65 is illness. Patients will come to the medbay and ask for help, at which point I'll ask them about their symptoms while I walk them to the Medical Center room for diagnosis. I have all of the illnesses, symptoms, and medications memorized but for the sake of RP I generally like to scan them anyways. I ask them to please lay in the Infection Scanner and scan them for their illness. While they are being scanned, I take the time to prepare their medication and use the results of the scanner to confirm my diagnosis. I'll give them the medication and ask how they are feeling. Depending on their response, I may scan them again to ensure they have no other illnesses.
What are the responsibilities of the Medical Consultant in RP?:
Consultants are primarily responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the department. Consultants are expected to host license trainings as well as training new Combat Medics. Consultants are also responsible for approving medical operations that other doctors can not otherwise do. They are also expected to lead the department and ensure that proper procedure is being followed by all staff. They are a source of guidance for other doctors who are unsure of something and are a voice of authority when the situation demands it. Above all else, Consultants are expected to ensure the department runs smoothly and are expected to handle any issues that may arise in the department.
Please give some lore about your Medical Consultant character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Brenjamin Asparagus was exposed to the world of the anomalous 3 years ago and has been employed by the Foundation for most of that. Despite holding a degree in Psychiatry and studying Neuropsychiatry for years, he has never been content with the commonly accepted understanding of the human mind. He doesn't accept that there are aspects of human psychology that cannot be explained, and he has made it his life's purpose to explain what cannot be explained. He's held to the notion that every person's perspective holds a unique clue to fully understanding the capabilities and propensities of the human mind. Though he focuses on saving lives through medical practice, he also uses it as a means to gain a deeper understanding of the human psyche by observing the undocumented psychological effects of anomalies on the human mind.
