Why are you applying for Director of External Affairs?
I am applying for Director of External Affairs because I truly just enjoy the development side of DEA, and I want the opportunity to contribute to the department at a higher level than I’m able through individual projects. Over time I have built up a list of ideas and improvements that I would like to bring to DEA, many of which I have intentionally structured and planned depending on scope, size, approval, and more, all in a Google Sheet. Some examples include introducing a mentor system for new Senior Agents, improving recognition of our agents through a recognition system, revising training and documentation, improving orders to encourage activity, clearer onboarding, escorting overhaul, and continuing to help BORTAC as it transitions into a joint sub-regiment. (and MORE!) Some of these projects can already be worked on in smaller ways within my current position, and I have already started planning and contributing where possible. However, many would become much more realistic if I were to take on the tasks as Director. I am not applying because I believe DEA needs major reform. I am applying because I believe DEA already has a very strong foundation and I would like to help refine and expand it further based on what already works well.
What makes you suitable for Director of External Affairs?:
I believe I am suitable for Director of External Affairs because I bring a mix of leadership experience and a strong interest in improving systems rather than only maintaining them. Throughout my very long time on the server I have held positions that have taught me numerous things, which helped me understand both what works well and what creates unnecessary friction for personnel. I am very familiar with DEA as I have held the position of Manager twice and Special Agent three times. Outside of normal gameplay, I also enjoy contributing through projects and developing ideas that improve the department. I already have multiple structured initiatives for DEA and have started planning several of them where possible. I do not see Director as a position focused on authority, but one that should leave the department stronger than when they entered the position, and that’s my goal.
What are the responsibilities of the Director of External Affairs in RP?:
There are a lot of responsibilities for the Director of External Affairs, but to list the major ones:
- Oversee and manage the overall direction and activity of the department
- Handle diplomatic inquiries
- Contribute to and encourage meaningful roleplay
- Review Special Agent applications
- Approve and oversee promotions from Special Agent to Manager
- Support the management team
- Deal with disciplinary matters involving Managers, Special Agents, Senior Agents, and Operatives when necessary
- Review and improve department initiatives and long-term development
- Work alongside Site Command, Site Administration, and all other departments
