What O5 role are you applying for, and why (give the specific O5 number):
I am applying for Chief Overseer, or O5-1. With the recent departure of our previous Chief Overseer, our Council has found itself in need of another leader. I believe I can take up that role. As leader of the O5 Council, O5-1 serves two primary purposes:
Being the top administrative authority in IC scenarios. In contrast to the Ethics Committee, which dominates the policy and legislative arm of the Foundation, the Council and its Chief are more closely aligned as an administrative branch. However, on the US server, these two groups are relatively interchangeable.
Being a top-tier leader of IC RP creation. Site Command is regarded as “Roleplay Leaders” and is expected to lead solid RP for the rest of the Site. This can range from things such as large overarching stories involving multiple people spanning days or weeks, to small interactions with Site Personnel by encouraging, intimidating, or otherwise coercing things to go their way for the advancement of the Site and RP on Site.
With my now 7 months (Wow, that time went by fast) as an O5 Council member, plus my tenure as Site Director, I believe I can not just meet but exceed these two directives of the Chief Overseer.
What makes you the best candidate for the O5 Council?:
I won’t lie when I say that I have some quite large shoes to fill should I become the next Chief Overseer. Both Shark and Marvin were fantastic -1’s who were able to clearly guide the Council and the Site as a whole towards whichever direction they wished. As such, I believe what makes me the best candidate for O5-1 is simply my clear drive and goal for things I wish to complete as Chief Overseer.
Clear and focused goals are something I strive to always maintain. I can show this by discussing a task I have been assisting with. A topic that has always been in my mind since the day I joined the server, to now, is the severe bloat of documentation required to understand the fundamentals of the server and IC interactions. To put it bluntly, the new player experience is atrocious, and the skill floor to just playing the server is far too high, which leads to people burning out and either trying to make do with bad information, getting in trouble, and leaving, or just skipping the whole process to become a troublesome person. However, with the help of Terry and the rest of Site Administration, I find that I am not alone in this idea, and there are people out there creative enough to work on this project. I have spoken at length with people like the above-mentioned, and there are already some results in the works (I can’t spoil too much).
Another topic I find myself more than capable of is the duties I believe define O5-1. As previously mentioned, I have more than my fair share of administrative ability, with my time as a Consultant and Site Administration member. My leadership abilities have had ample time to grow as Site Director and the half a year as O5 (I seriously cannot overstate how insane that is to me, time really does fly). I have been decently involved with the culture surrounding O5 and Site Command as a whole with my time as an OSA, friendship and associates I’ve made on the Council before my time, and of course, the long time as an O5 Command member. Lastly, there is the RP creation aspect of Site Command. I have recently been made a full GM and have greatly enjoyed my ability to create Roleplay for the people of the Site. From small RP enhancements during meetings or conversations, to using dupes to forward RP that has been brought to me. I believe RP creation is a talent I have in spades.
With all of this stated, I believe I make the best candidate due to my clear goals (one of which I already showed) and experience that I can bring to the table with RP creation, administrative ability, and leadership qualities.
What are the responsibilities of the O5 Council in RP?:
The Council and its chief are responsible for a variety of RP, such as:
Watch over the site and assist with policy changes to maintain a stable site.
Delegate administrative duties.
Enforce the Code of Conduct to ensure professional standards are upheld.
Create roleplay utilizing their authority to bend (in-game) rules where necessary.
Work with Site Admin and the Committee to ensure all Site and Foundation Policies are upheld.
Command MTF Alpha-1 and utilize it to make ends meet.
Utilize their assistant program to serve as delegates or to sign off on paperwork.
Authorize AA or KOS past the airlock when necessary.
Convene with other roleplay leaders to ensure proper RP is being conducted, as well as ensure departmental stability.
Access and utilize the on-site Nuclear warhead as necessary.
