What O5 role are you applying for, and why (give the specific O5 number):
Chief Overseer. O5-1.
The Chief Overseer plays a primary role in creating and continuing major storylines and events. Being both an experienced Senior Gamemaster and senior foundation leader, I desire the role from both a RP creation standpoint and a leadership progression standpoint. I have no doubt that my experience thus far has prepared me for this next natural step.
If accepted, I intend to continue the standard that the previous -1 has set for both the Council as a whole, and for Foundation leadership.
I have been an Overseer for five months. I was in Site Administration for eight months, Director of Medicine for three months, and Consultant for another three. This is the amount of time and dedication I have put into this server, into leading the experience of those around me, and attempting to better this community.
I take this decision very seriously, and would not apply if I did not think I could excel in it.
-
What makes you the best candidate for the O5 Council?:
Besides our dearly departing O5-1 "The Finality," I am the longest serving member of the current Overseer Council. During that time, I have watched and overseen the many aspects of our server ecosystem, and learned much about what it means to serve in a maximal RP Lead position. More importantly, I have seen how the position requires us to be an advocate for the players, ensuring that their needs are met. This understanding, along with my personality as a calm and quite considerate individual, leads me to believe I have the necessary qualities to assume the mantle of Chief Overseer.
I'll discuss briefly some of what I have pursued during my time as Overseer.
First, my primary objective any time I was active on my O5 character was to have a goal. I find the idea of wandering aimlessly across site not only unrealistic for a Councilmember, but quite boring. So, I would either find specific personnel to interact with, or order A-1 to bring said personnel to me. This process has resulted in several different projects across my time with various RP leaders who have come and gone. In many instances, I was the approval and encouragement they needed to pursue their interests. For those of you who are familiar with "Bandwidth," that was started by Director Barry Uriah, and approved by me. And while I am sure Robert would have proceeded with his tests regardless of my input, I chose to sponsor his... research... with SCP-682. These are just a few instances that I can recall in recent memory. I'd also add in my most recent escapade involving a certain Executive Researcher, of which I am completely innocent legally speaking.
Second, I have greatly enjoyed furthering the persona and gravitas the Council demands in the Foundation. I find intimidation to be an excellent pastime, which I no doubt would be greatly enhanced if given this opportunity. There are many personnel who can recount the times they have received a pager message to come to some discrete room, or being cuffed and dragged to some undisclosed location.
Third, I have been responsible for management of the Overseer Assistant program for quite some time. During that tenure, I have been the primary councilmember creating and delivering orders to our assistants, and using them to maintain matters of interest to the Council. I will avoid further details for the sake of metagaming, but if you have a peek through the OSA Orders forum, you can take a look at the orders I have provided thus far.
Fourth, building a relationship with the members of Alpha-1. While they are responsible for our protection, myself and the other councilmembers encourage them to pursue their own RP beyond just combat. Thus, in many of my actions as O5, I involve many of them through simple dialogue or other methods that contribute to the atmosphere of the Council.
Finally, I have my personal projects. These are rather fewer since my role as a an SGM keeps me quite busy creatively. But I do have a couple I have worked on. Some are currently in progress. Some were lost due to the unfortunate departure of key participating members. All of them are things that I have wanted to do and find personally enjoyable or funny. My most recent one caused quite a few waves (Thank you to Randal for being primary prosecutor).
Overall, I hold qualities that are essential to being Chief Overseer. I know that there will be a large change in my relationship with Server Leadership. I am ready for such a change. While I know many of them personally, I also know not to take their feedback and evaluations personally.
-
On a side note, I am not going to sit here and tell you I am perfect. I have a very real life outside of this server, and that will always take priority when push comes to shove. Those who know me know I have responsibilities beyond Garry's Mod. However, I believe that I can serve as Chief Overseer in conjunction with that responsibility. Should there come a time where I no longer believe that to be the case, I will be damn sure to leave my own legacy in the hands of someone capable and trained. Until then, I hope the impression I have made on this community is not lost now.

What are the responsibilities of the O5 Council in RP?:
The role of the Chief Overseer extends beyond that of a standard Overseer. They ensure the Council functions effectively and efficiently, while guiding the Foundation's missions towards its real purpose. To contain anomalies, and determine what is possible with them. Here is a list of responsibilities in no particular order.
- Maintaining and enforcing the Code of Conduct for all Foundation personnel. This includes reviewing and updating policies to reflect the Council's vision for the Foundation.
- Handling Foundation-wide crises that threaten site stability. Site Administration may handle smaller issues, but the Council is primarily responsible for ensuring the world doesn't end.
- Authorizing Alpha warhead detonation in cases where containment efforts have failed.
- Creating and facilitating immersive experiences and projects for personnel of all levels
- Utilizing Overseer Assistants and Alpha-1 to enact Council directives and enhance our presence on-site.
- Authorization of high-risk testing such as termination attempts, risky projects, and high level classified research.
- Management of the Site Director and his activities, ensuring his leadership of the Site is both stable and efficient.
- Acting as the final decision making power for Foundation wide action.
- Ensuring informational security is protected and upheld throughout the Foundation.
- Working with or against the Ethics Committee to create roleplay.
-
What are the responsibilities of the O5 Council out of RP (e.g. what applications do they handle?):
- Final decisions on Overseer candidates
- Final decisions on Director of Research candidates
- Final decisions on Site Director candidates
- Appointment of the Alpha-1 Commander
- Deciding on Overseer Assistant candidates.
- Working with Server Leadership to maintain a high standard of roleplay
