For how long have you played on CG SCP: First joined: July 26, 2023, or almost 8 months.
Age: 13
In what country are you located?: USA
Time zone: EST
Character name(s): CI: Jean Paul Gaultier Foundation: Nathen "Instant" Darnell
Civilian name: John "Longneck" Diner
What server are you applying for? (SCP-RP UK or SCP-RP USA): USA
Do you have a mic?:
-Yes, I have been having some problems with it recently. I have alternatives that I can use if needed.
List all whitelisted, MTF, or CI roles that you hold or have held:
-Holding: DEA/IA Agent, Exec. Researcher, E-11 LT, CI-A
-Held: DEA Senior Agent, CI-B
Have you received any kicks/bans/warning? and why?:
-Yes, but all of them are expired.
Why are you applying for Director of Research?
-The main reason would be my love for research and RP. From when I first joined to now, research has been my most played department, even before I was an executive. I always liked being first-handed with the SCPs, researching, and putting them to trial. To explore and acquire information not previously known. I also love the great community within research. I want to make the research department its best, putting into effect any ideas I have that I would think are great for the department. I love the challenge that is of doing research, roleplay is one of them. When an event happens such as a new SCP appearing I love the challenge of attempting to explore anything about the SCP. Finding ways to communicate with it, or attempting to identify it. Overall my love for RP and general research is what drives me to attempt to be a Deputy Director of Research.
What makes you suitable for Director of Research?:
-I would first like to talk about my experience in clearance level four jobs. I have been an Executive researcher for 3 months now, as well as being promoted to E-11 LT only a few weeks after being accepted as an executive. I have gained a great knowledge of how to be an amazing Junior CL4 card holder and it greatly prepares me to hold a senior CL4 position in the foundation. I understand the roles and duties of being a DDoR and I am prepared.
-Secondly, I can write documents that are not only excellent but exceed excellent and go beyond. I have had multiple documents graded excellent in my time as a Researcher due to the detail, grammar, vocabulary, and creativity in my documents. I have also written documents in the past that have been over 50+ pages long. The document I'm talking about is my SCP-001 proposal. This and my excellent graded documents are proof that I can exceed expectations within document writing and can uphold my expectations as a DDoR.
-Another thing I'd like to talk about is my seriousness and professionalism. I am serious and professional when it is called to me whether that be in any situation, RP or Combat I will be mature. If being serious and being professional is not called I remain mature outside of that and do not do anything that is over the line and straight out mingy or immature. If I am ever doing RP or participating in an event I will attend with seriousness and professionalism. In the time that does not require it, I remain mature.
-Continuing from seriousness and professionalism I would like to talk about the effort I put in events along with rarely procrastinating and self-discipline in those events. When I am asked to do something whether that be by a planned date to finish by or ASAP I will always be done by those dates or finish in a time that is great for the person that requested it of me. If I am asked to work at my own pace with no set date, I am still a hard worker with self-discipline. This is shown in the timeliness and output of my SCP-001 document. I set a goal for myself while working on this document to write at least two to four pages of a document a day. If I ever miss a day or even are sick a day I make up in the day following. If I am ever assigned a project, or work I finish it at any speed that the person requests it. I am a fast worker and a self-disciplined worker.
-I understand the expectations and responsibilities of a DoR. I commit to research and have been for almost 8 months. When it comes to documents, I make sure that they are correct with the policies before I sign them. If a researcher is ever being mingy or inappropriate I make sure to discipline them if ever asked of me or they are violating the FLC. I have a great amount of experience in this field not only as an executive researcher but also as an E-11 LT. I am open to any good ideas that are presented to me, or I come up with and present them to the DoR in hopes of making the research department better or more up-to-date. I am always in an attempt to maintain good relations with other departments.
What are the responsibilities of the Director of Research in RP?:
-The DDoR's primary responsibility is overseeing the research department along with the DoR. Discussing with the DoR about changing policies within the departmental codex, and assisting the DoR if requested. The DDoR also helps oversee the Executive Researcher team, handling reports made against them, and disciplining them due to your discretion. The DDoR also assists with choosing new researchers to become an executive and mentoring them in the absence of the DoR. Another responsibility of the DDoR is approving or denying documents. The DDoR can deny or approve documents based on their opinion, or if they don't follow formatting guidelines. It is also the DDoR and DoR's job to maintain good relations between the research department, and any other department. Communication and relations between other departments are crucial, as research often relies on the compliance of other departments for it to be completed.
Please give some lore about your Director of Research character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Nathen first entered the foundation after his application to a "Research Agency" as a Junior Researcher was accepted. When he was briefed about what the foundation does and some of the cl1 SCPs it contains he was worried. But after hearing about the safety precautions that are taken in the foundation he was fine with accepting the job. Nathen was provided with the essentials to living in the foundation. He was given his keycard and told to set up in his room. Nathen read about the documents on the board in the research hall so he was able to make documents with the proper format and know anything else that was required of research. Nathen has been great at writing his whole life and took AP Research in high school, he was accepted into a college that focuses on academics with no sports teams except for a golf team. Nathen was already immediately great at writing research reports on SCPs. Nathen made a major discovery with SCP-1025, figuring out that repetitive exposure to SCP-1025 eventually builds immunity to the same effects. Nathen was promoted to researcher after this where he would serve as one for 4 years, he was promoted due to his extended experience as a researcher and being seen to have some leadership qualities in his time. As a Sr. Researcher he would conduct multiple cross-tests with SCP-914, he did a total of 4 cross-tests with SCP-914. One with SCP-178, two with SCP-939, and one with SCP-500 Nathen served as a Sr. Researcher for six years. Due to his leadership qualities, amazing tests, and loyalty to the foundation, he was offered the position of executive researcher. Being briefed on the responsibility and type of role it would be within the research department, Nathen found this to be great and accepted the offer. As an executive, he focused on overseeing researcher's tests and mentoring new Jr. Researchers. Stepping into the shoes of the people who first introduced him to the foundation. Nathen focused on more dangerous tests as an executive, termination attempts with SCP-682, cross-tests with SCP-008, and SCPs mostly in HCZ. Nathen served the foundation as an Executive for 10 years, he was selected to be a DoR due to one of them stepping down. Nathen was given the position of DDoR and was mentored by the DoR.
