Valentina María Fernández was born in Córdoba, Argentina to parents she never knew. Her childhood was spent being raised by someone she called her 'Abuela'. Records of this person, known as 'Sister Catalina', indicate that she is not related to Valentina in any biological way, instead indicating that she may have been the one to adopt Valentina into her care after finding her abandoned.
Valentina was homeschooled by Sister Catalina for most of her youth, stressing the importance of caring for others and healing souls. She was enrolled in a public secondary school where she took an interest in Biology and the sciences. This intrigue was fostered by someone she called 'El Profesor'. Valentina would save up any money she'd get from her afterschool job to buy a copy of Medical Microbiology, a book she spent hours studying and annotating. Despite her religious upbringing, Valentina is not particularly religious herself and often views life as a pragmatist, opting to find solutions to her problems rather having faith in things working out.
Valentina would enrol in the University of Buenos Aires, pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). She aced her courses in infectious disease, cultivating an interest in helping treat the sickly around Argentina. She assumed that graduating and working clinically would be satisfying, but she ultimately found it boring.
After spending a year doing clinical duty, she'd hang up her stethoscope, instead joining Médecins Sans Frontières, serving as a field medic in war torn areas such as Afghanistan, South Sudan, and Uganda. The ability to truly help others in endemic, war-torn countries reinvigorated her love for medicine, and her dedication to helping others was noticed by Foundation scouts.
Valentina María Fernández was officially recruited into the Foundation on November 23rd, 2025, stationed at Site-65 in Pinewood, Saskatchewan, Canada.
