Not really any fun in it, thats why people join CI, to murder their friends that are on foundation.Idk, citizen roles feel out of place and boring. Where's the fun in scavenging and shit?
I actually really like the setting, I never understood the dislike. Its dreary, it's cold, it's harsh, it's the perfect setting for an SCP game. Changing to daytime wouldn't affect any of the actual issues that keep surface from being playable.Surface combines the two worst environmental factors. Night-time, and Snow. You never see any other servers, or games combining these two factors as a primary design because its boring as fuck and has no way of being interesting.
Of course, they have denied any and all suggestions for a better surface setting since I joined 2 and a half years ago because of stubbornness or some other silly reason, I'm sure.
Honestly, if they just changed surface to a more interesting environment like an day-time urban setting or something, then that would also increase RP capabilities and make it a million times less boring than it currently is. It would also fix the issue of the ugly draw distance and fog.
Additionally it could also mean more jobs could be added if wanted, and more interesting GM events.
Yeah the setting is good from a lore and story perspective, but from a gameplay perspective, its the worst.I actually really like the setting, I never understood the dislike. I haven't heard anyone outright say it but I guarantee their reasoning is that 'most people RP within the foundation', and the cause of that is precisely because of them neglecting surface. If they actually put more effort into surface then I reckon a lot of people would move to surface RP more frequently, if only to get away from foundation RP for a bit.AFAIK, however, surface isn't being looked at any time soon in any real capacity, which is tragic.
add law board, make civs able to actually make decent money somehow (other than mc&d), make ranger not pay to play and there'd probably be a lot more people on civ. i think a better mini darkrp experience would be coolIdk, citizen roles feel out of place and boring. We have RP, if you hop on civilian when PAM is on you can possibly have a lot of fun on surface, many people dislike us however and will ultimately try to get my comment removed and/or denounce me.Idk, citizen roles feel out of place and boring. Where's the fun in scavenging and shit?
no the fuck u dont if goc ci and caf get off their high horse civ rp would be greatIn order to do so you'd have to create an entire paradigm that is centered around the Civilians, CI and GOC.
On top of that, Civilians would need an entirely different rule set, jobs and goals to create the desired RP outcomes. You'd technically have to create a CityRP completely independent on the surface from the Foundation.
Unless GMOD expands its total slots per server, it would be quite impossible to foster two separate game modes with 126 people, unless MTF/GOC/CI/Department slots are heavily reduced to make way for other jobs and roles designed for the surface. As it stands right now surface is just a foundation for something, leaning towards a battleground and nothing else. The kicker to this is how important civilian life is to the scope of SCP roleplay. With no causality for breaches and information leaks, all forms of breaching is essentially internally contained to CI/Foundation and thus the gameplay loop is created for those groups. If you had bustling civilian life that would react independently from those groups to these sets of information there would be more pressure for these groups to maintain their own party with more diligence, therefore higher risks for not doing your job.
As it stands;
Information/SCP breach > MTF reacts > Site Admin/Command/Leaders react and issue orders > breaches are contained
Information/SCP breach > MTF reacts > Site Admin/Command/Leaders react and issue orders > CI reaches the surface and tells civilians > Civilians have nothing they can do with the information or SCP's > Civilians hide all this information and or eventually die > time passes and everything goes back to normal unless civilians drag it out unrealistically
With that cycle, the server leans to a more combative stance, so the surface has and will remain just a battleground with nobody entering these civilian roles because there is nothing that is holding those groups up to actually be an integral part of the server, they're more background characters than anything.
dude i finished reading ur shit clearly you have never played civ or possibly scprp at all cuz everything you said is wrong or bad did u even think before u typed that whole fucking yap you and your way of thinking is the sole reason civ rp sucksIn order to do so you'd have to create an entire paradigm that is centered around the Civilians, CI and GOC.
