What does this suggestion change/add/remove?
Summary
My suggestion is to bring over the planned clearance "zones" from the planning board for Site-9 over to Site-65. This would effectively add special zones to your keycards and redo the keypad system to have "zones". As an example, Security Sector would have the "Security Zone" endorsement meaning that your keycard must have the security zone marker/endorsement in order to enter security sector, effectively preventing mingery from tech experts, cadets, etc. and limiting the amount of unauthorized traffic to that area.
The same thing applies to Engineering and Medical zones on your keycard. The generator room would have the Engineering marker be required, all doors in medbay would have medical be required, and etc.
Here is a chart of what jobs would get each marker on your keycard and the areas that may receive those specific markers for Site-65....
Zone Type | Jobs Permitted | Areas Affected |
All Zones (Security, Engineering, Medical) | All MTFs, Internal Affairs, External Affairs, All CL4s, Site Administration, Site Command | N/A |
Security | General Security, Combat Medics | Security Sector, Lower HCZ Armory, MTF Bunks, D-Block Doors (All of them minus kitchen and main entrance), GSD Captains/Security Chiefs Office, DEA Bunks |
Engineering | Engineers, IT Technicians, Tech Experts | Engineering Bunks, Reactor Area, Maybe the door to the FIRST room to LCZ electrical (but not into the room with the switches) |
Medical | Trainees, Doctors, Senior Doctors, Combat Medics | Medbay doors minus the first few doors/entrance. |
As an example,
A cadet may enter security sector and use his zone clearance on his keycard to open the D-block doors to pull out D-class. However, if a chef attempts to open the D-block door to pull D-class out, they'll be met with an access denied message.
I also believe in order to balance out the nerf this would have on GOIs and D-Class, we allow 914 to add zones to keycards by putting keycards in 914 on fine multiple times. So after the keycard's general clearance level is upgraded (i.e. CL2 -> CL3)... if you kept putting it on fine it'd add those extra zones.
Has something similar been suggested before?
I don't believe so, no. Not for Site-65.Suggestion Positives:
There are tons of positives to implementing this system into Site-65. These include:- Significantly removing the capability for people to minge and ruin server health.
- Requires more strategic planning on the part of GOIs. They must obtain specific keycards with those specific zones, which makes them focus more on stealth, intelligence, and planning as opposed to just constantly running in guns blazing.
- As mentioned above, all MTF regiments would get access to all zones in the event something happens in, for instance, medical bay. They can respond and deal with it.
- SCPs and other non-combatives are more limited to the doors they can open, thus preventing trolling.
Suggestion Negatives:
- Raids from GOIs may be *slightly* nerfed based off the zonage of certain areas if their goal is to go in said areas. So if their goal is to go to raid the GSD Captain's Office and they don't have the security zone, they'll have to hack open the scanner.
- It will make it harder for D-Class to do things such as raid security sector, however, this can be combated by allowing 914 to add zones to keycards at random.
Why should this be accepted?
This should be accepted as there is nothing really wrong with adding more security. Time and time again the server has constant issues with people doing things like going into security sector and getting guns as non-combatants or unauthorized people letting D-Class out, or tech experts running into the back of medbay to mess around with people and documents/clipboards. Adding this suggestion would very easily cut down on the amount of unauthorized area access by at least half which would also, in turn, increase the potential for RP. Want to go in the back of medbay? Ask a Combat Medic or Sr. Doctor to escort you! You no longer can just walk in by yourself. Want a D-Class? Ask a Gensec to let one out for you.
