Developer Application Format


Information & Requirements



Developer is not a staff rank, and has authority equal to that of a regular user. Developers do not engage in staff matters, do not take sits, and cannot apply for staff while holding the rank of Developer.
Existing staff of the rank of Admin or above may be permitted to hold dual staff & developer ranks.

To apply for Developer, you must meet the following requirements:

  • At least 15 years old.
  • Have played for at least 2 weeks on our servers.
  • Have a microphone/TS.
  • Have previous experience with Modelling / Artwork.
  • Be able to come up with novel ideas for new models / artpieces.
  • Be able to spend roughly 4 hours a week on development.
  • (preferable) have previous experience with making models & content for Garry's Mod or the Source Engine.

Please attach evidence in your application of content that you have made for GMod. There is no ‘spam’ here - you can attach as much evidence as you like, preferably screenshots or videos. If you haven’t developed for GMod or the Source Engine before but have modelling / art experience, feel free to apply but understand that it is unlikely we will accept you unless you have exceptional talents.

Being a Developer carries the following perks:
  • All VIP perks
  • Flashy Developer rank on Forums, TS & in-game
  • Access to more TS rooms, e.g. ‘Dev Lounge’
  • Special rewards for content you helped create - e.g. helped make a weapon crate skin? You will get the skin for free

Being a Developer for us means that you will work on either tasks that have been given to you, or ideas of your own that have been approved. In both cases these involve approval of Network Leadership.

Please note that being a Developer does not give you FTP access to the server, or any similar permissions to this. Only Core Developers will receive access to core addons and potential FTP access.

Work will not be constant. Please note that we will expect you to have the initiative to come up with ideas. We will also expect that you roughly commit 4 hours per week to development, but this is not tracked and breaks can be given as required. Note that if you fail to produce anything of value for 2 weeks or longer without a reason, you may have your Developer rank removed.

Rating Guide (Modelling)



0 - I have no experience with 3D art at all
1-2 - I have a basic grasp of 3D modelling using Blender or other software, enough to create some sort of model
3-4 - I have a decent grasp of modelling using software and am capable of clean topology
5-6 - I have reasonably good ability of modelling, enough to create larger/more complex models and to create them with proper topology optimization and neat shape
7-8 - I have good ability of modelling, enough that I could create or edit large and complex models such as player-models, vehicles and props, I am familiar with QC Files, Crowbar and file structure, and have a good amount of previous experience creating models for Garry's Mod
9-10 - I have an excellent ability of modelling, confident and extensive knowledge in all important concepts such as optimization, source engine limitations and techniques for modelling, I would consider my modelling on-par with AAA game titles and have a lot of previous experience creating various models for Garry's Mod

Rating Guide (2D Artwork)


0 - I have no experience with 2D art at all
1-2 - I have a basic grasp of 2D artwork using art software, enough to create basic drawings.
3-4 - I have a decent grasp of 2D artwork using software and I am capable of clean and coherent drawings.
5-6 - I have reasonably good drawing/design skills, enough to create larger/more complex artworks and to create them with proper and coherent euclidean concepts
7-8 - I have good drawing/design skills, enough that I could create or edit large and complex pieces of artworks such as advertisement material, logos and concept artwork, I am familiar with color theory, perspective and general anatomy structure, and have a good amount of previous experience creating artwork for other clients and/or personal use
9-10 - I have excellent art skills, confident and extensive knowledge in all important concepts, techniques and direction, I would consider my artwork on-par with AAA game titles and have a lot of previous experience


No-one should apply at a 0, you should take the time to learn more before applying. We prefer applicants to be at around the 5 mark. However these are not requirements and you are welcome to apply with less experience than that if you believe there are other reasons we should accept you.

Please note we do not take verdicts on Developer applications, they are solely judged in private by Ventz and Network Leadership. Senior and Super Developers may give feedback only.

Players who are being considered for Developer will first be asked to come on TS for a chat about their past experiences. Once a Developer application is accepted they immediately receive their rank.
