What does this suggestion change/add/remove:

Remove prefixes like 'GOC PVT' from being mantadory on play names on discord. Currently when getting a rank change like mtf or something else ONE of your roles will be put in your name (usually what is considered your main role)
a good example would be someone joining Nu7 their name would get changed to
MTF NU7 PVT name 'codename' etc...

Currently a staff rule that is NOT told to players directly enforces it making anyone who rank request forced to have at least one of their rank shown. However one thing I always wondered is why? Players can have more then one role yet their name will match their "most played role" instead of their most used username which would imo make more sense. You can already know if someone has a role by just clickling on them and checking what roles they have to know i' what regiment they are. While I understand some ranks aren't specified (mtf ranks usually) you can also just learn that by checking the roster since some roster even specify a players username (like goc does on UK for example)
What is more dumb is that sometimes people keep a different nickname then what they have ingame but still get the rank given in their name which makes no sense now cuz your character and discord ID don't match. So it truly feels like just a pointless rule that dosnt server much of a purpose. Maybe important ranks like CO/COM SA o5 etc should be shown but do you need to know that someone is an spc on the discord?
Obviously fully removing the option seems dumb for people that like this so this suggestion only ask for the rule to be an option instead.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):

-people get to choose their name or keep their discord ID for easier recognition (you wont wonder anymore who is this random person that you actually know but got named changed because they swapped character again)
-Less visual clutter from seing 20 people talk with similar ingame rank
-People still can get the rank infront if they want to.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:

-Harder to tell specific ranks for some positions like regiment etc... Who don't have rank specific roles

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:

Generally letting people keep their name seems smarter then it being changed every single time you rank request making people not reconize you at first because CI pk'ed you for the fith time this month. Some people have expressed their frustation for what seems to be a pointless rule that is NOT EVEN PUBLIC unless you ask. And if some people like ranks on their name, they can keep it as well. If this gets denied at least specify it in the rank request channel so people don't complain that your only argument is that staff said it. Transparency tends to work nice.

- Rank Prefix:

Current rank-request format specifics that individuals in a whitelisted or regimental position are required a primary prefix to identify their specific rank, regiment, or department. The secondary role, however, remains optional. This format creates uniformity between players and presents a roleplay aesthetic to the discord, particularly as the majority of channels are specifically in-game related.

- Server Leadership not necessarily having a rank prefix:

Server Leadership members are exempt from this requirement, allowing them to have their most commonly recognized name. For example, If a Server Leadership member is reported, their discord name is usually the one listed in our Gitlabs tracker (used to track staff.) Additionally, players would easily be able to reach out to Server Leadership members.

This will not be reconsidered.

Thanks
