What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Removing names or adding into rules that you can't use the name shown on the phone for RP purposes, or adding the rule in game so people don't have to use the forum, i promise most people aren't checking forums. maybe i missed it but the name removal is still relevant.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
I'm sure it has been suggested, it should be taken into consideration

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
1. Assist in better roleplay experience
2. So people aren't getting in trouble for Metagaming when there's no rule for it

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
i guess not knowing who you're talking to but doesn't matter if you get in trouble for metagaming

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
To better the RP experience and so players aren't getting talked to for breaking rules that aren't written rules.

Side note: how many people need to repeat the same message about format... give someone time to see their notification and edit the message.

Just remove the name that's shown. You can't use it, so why is it even there.
>Be me, phones can't display names
>Call somewhere, someone picks up
>Yell slurs down the line
>Hang up
>Staff can't punish me because they have no way to know it was me

for adding SteamIDs to phones or replacing name with SteamIDs so that moderation is still possible replacing name and or changing with something still usable by Staff, but harder to metagame with - Turns out caller name SteamID replacement isn't a great idea as discussed below

In case they decide to spam racial slurs at you
In that case, why not keep the steamID instead of a name, prob not in the same place but yk, place it on the side/corner.
Yes, it would still allow for meta if someone looks hard enough but at least it wont be immidatelly obvious whos calling.
And staff can still do their thing, since they can work on steamid basis.

i think displaying the SteamID is useful too instead of outright removal of all identifiers as others have stated it can still be used for moderation purposes

Although I should also raise the discussion point of the chat command /phone - Which basically allows text chat players to communicate with people over phones;

Since, in our ideal implementation that we've thought up, how would /phone's name display work? Would it just be [PHONE], [PHONE] and then their SteamID (which would be superfluous as it would be showing in the middle of the screen instead of the called name), or something like [PHONE] Caller? I like that one, personally

I think you should rewrite this - As people have said, it's already a rule

and you can already access it pretty easily in-game without needing to use the forum (in the conventional sense) with the really cool new ESC menu changes:

I think that to maximise your chances here, you should focus on the "replacing/alterring the caller name with SteamID something else that'd be easy for Staff to use, but harder to metagame with to reduce metagame while retaining ability to moderate" aspect of this.

Just have it say "Caller" but add the metadata to the message so you can right-click it to get their SteamID and whatever like regular chat messages.

I am going to -support for the following reasons:
1. Already against the rules to use
2. From comments I have seen ( Looking at you Emillia) going to address why I disagree with the supposed fix of SteamID as well - this works fine for the chat command, as then I can get a copy & pasteable steamID instantly, it does NOT however work well with the Caller portion at the bottom - meaning I would need to still write down the steamID manually

What I would propose instead:
1. Remove the Rank & Job - keep Character name for Moderation purposes
- This ASSISTS with metagame prevention to an extent, while the name is still visible, whether they are a D-Class or Security is now hidden (They can obviously still metagame with the Tab List, but that becomes a GUARENTEED easy to catch report for Metagame)
