What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
Right now 4v4 (lane?) wars are in a bit of a bad place. 40 minutes of 4v4 infantry combat feels like a massive slog and results in a lot of players leaving the war early. This might be partly because with slow cap rates and close spawn points you typically end up with a single point going back and forth all war, ending in a stalemate which satisfies nobody. Limited territory capture is all well and good, but being stuck there for the best part of an hour isn't rewarding. I also expect there's a reason that most FPS games limit sessions to 20 minutes when it's <8v8 infantry fighting: people get bored. As these are lane wars with only a handful of infantry, strategy is limited to begin with.
I'd suggest that this war type be capped to 20 minutes, perhaps with shorter peacetimes between them. This should help to keep gameplay fresh and improve player retention. Particularly after a late 'small' war, having an hour of peacetime practically guarantees that there will be no further games that day. With low player count there's practically no RP to be had anyway.
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
- Better player retention during the off hours.
- More enjoyable player experience within small wars.
- More frequent but shorter small wars changes up the points being fought for.
- Gameplay feels like less of a grind.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
- Shortened wars may limit the ability to capture an entire lane in one war.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
If player activity is going to be maintained during the off hours, the war gameplay needs to be engaging and fun. The best wars we've had during those hours have been flash wars rather than the 4v4s, so it'd be nice to improve things.
As MRP US is now a thing, a fair few players are also hopping to that server late at night instead of engaging with these small, drawn out wars on UK. Perhaps that'll ease off with time, but I wouldn't count on that.
