As Chief of Security and a long-standing member of General Security, I notice SRU is rarely, if ever used except by those that don't have access to Officer. I find that this makes the role redundant and just a waste. I wish to change that with this suggestion. Although primarily an SRU suggestion, I will make one suggestion for Sergeant while I'm here.

What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
SRU Changes:
Removal of D-Block Station Kit
Upping to CL 3 GSD
Change Patrol loadout to contain:
Base GSD equipment
F90 MBR
USP
Deployable Shield
Tranq
Interrogate Tool
Sergeant Changes:
Add Tranq gun
This would come along with a change in GSD policy to make SRU a patrol unit and Officer a D-Block unit, giving SRU a unique identity.

Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Yes, former Chief of Security Mace made a suggestion a long time ago involving a GenSec and D-Class rework. While his suggestion was on the entirety of GenSec and D-Block, mine is focused on Response Units. Link to Mace's post: https://civilnetworks.net/community/threads/the-gensec-rework-d-class.23143/

Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
My planned changes would:
Revitalize SRU as a role, and give it a purpose outside of being a worse Officer.
Encourage GSD activity outside of D-Block via a dedicated patrol unit.
Allow GSD burnt out of D-Block to have a more readily available option to remain as GSD outside of D-Block.

Possible Negatives of the suggestion:

Possible Negatives:
Excess of CL 3 personnel in the General Security Department
Abuse of their clearance by letting lower levels into restricted areas
Tranq abuse/spam against both combatives and innocents
Abuse of Interrogate Tool to steal keycards

Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Given my listed positive and negative effects this change should still be accepted in some form in order to give new life to the SRU role, and to bring back GSD members that do not want to be in D-Block often and would rather be in LCZ and EZ. It would also expand GSD's presence on-site, making it more of a general security force, as in the name. As for abuse of their equipment, since SRU is a licensed role, it can be more easily controlled then Officer, and held to a higher standard, removing those that abuse the tools given to them. In the case of excess CL 3 personnel, I believe maintaining a CL 2 position but giving an armory override would still make the role more lucrative to many GSD members, as many have told me that the lack of armory access is a deal breaker, and I believe it cripples them and they are unable to replenish half of their hitpoints in the form of armor.

Could you explain in your eyes, why you believe this nerfs SRU?
The purpose is for guards to be able to act as RIOT units. This trades the entire purpose of SRU existing to make if Officer Lite By essentially setting it to an exact copy of the Officer loadout including the lvl 3 card. However I do agree that an armory overide would be nice. I agree SRU needs a rework but this isn't the way.

I'd like to counter your point briefly. Security Response Units are meant to be security's field unit, our main guys outside of D-Block. While yes, they do need a Riot Control License to be an Response Unit, their duties are meant to extend well beyond that. These plans would come alongside a policy change making it primarily SRU's job to patrol, while Officer is meant to stay in D-Block unless responding to a code or assisting in an incident.

Bare minimum, giving them a CL3 would do wonders for the kit.

My previous advocation for SRU were:
Reduce SRU -> 6 slots
(possibly increase officer slots)
Give SRU CL3
Remove Officer Patrol Kit
Have SRU be the only rotating loadout kit

They do as the name suggests, they are a response unit, so having them patrol and or rotate out of Dblock to various locations plus having that CL3 would be amazing. This would hopefully stop random senior positions outside of SGT and CPT from wandering around the facility doing nothing.

With the addition of the EZ rework making the site overall bigger we face a distinct lack of actual dedicated patrol units. Sure Nu7 and DEA could in theory patrol EZ, but their main issues regard surface infiltration. With this change SRU would not only have even more access to perform their job better, but will also have the ability to communicate in CL3 comms where important info is normally shared, and they can be given a new level of trust and responsibility. While I can see the potential issues faced with making the job CL3 including abuse thats just a factor that comes with all roles in the Foundation. If anyone is caught abusing it is as simple as removing their license and in some cases job banning them.

Currently Sru is only used by people that are between combat lvl 15-20 giving them a cl3 would encourage more people to flag onto the Sru role, it is not used much currently because people would rather have a cl3 role like officer than being a cl2. Which leads to officers not being in d block and wondering around site with no active codes.

SRU is practically useless right now. Unlike the old RRT where they were actually called upon for certain threats, SRUs are just other gensec that happen to have a license and some levels. SRU needs to be more advanced and better, and not barely an upgrade of guard, nevermind the fact that they STILL SOMEHOW HAVE CL2. Please make this group better, and an actually advanced version of GENSEC, so that the only advanced version isn't one that's basically just a lesser E-11.

With this SRU's may actually be useful for something other than a steppingstone to nothing, it has become effectively useless because of the Officer Patrol get and it would just Give better RP scenarios to GSD and more opportunities in the future.

For a while SRU has been underutilized. It's a semi-whitelisted role that is trusted with special equipment like the tranq gun. SRU is locked behind a tryout where you are tested on your knowledge of the GenSec handbook, but in its current state it is inferior to the Officer role which has no barrier of entry and can be obtained without ever having to read the handbook. The role is just used as a placeholder until Officer has been unlocked which is a shame as their equipment is very useful in responding to codes.

I have been playing a bit of SRU to see the state that it is in and I can full heartily say that without a CL3 patrolling the facility can cause many issues. this includes not having the ability to get a scranton, having limited access to HCZ (which can be patrolled given E-11 perms), and not having access to armory to restock armor since you already start with only 50.

Ok so basically I was playing on SRU with my good buddy @Tykeck and basically I was trying to catch a dclass in HCZ and I couldn't open any of the SCP doors to check to see if he's hacking and then CI started raiding and there was a CI tb and I couldn't get a Reality Anchor to help suppressing the tb and I couldn't do anything while on the job to help because of my clearance and I couldn't go far into HCZ because the amount of CL3 doors there are.

I think its a great idea to give SRU CL3 because they are allowed to help e11 in code 5 and to sweep HCZ with e11 auth but most of the doors are CL3 and you really cant open them because of lower clearance level and be able to grab CL3 items like a Reality Anchor and a Containment Beam so they can actually help assisting code 5 if no one else have those items on hand to contain the scp or to suppress a scp

(please let this rework happen I had to flag off because I couldn't do anything 😢)

This would finally give me an excuse to actually be outside of D-Block, fighting breaches and infils, instead of just being on Sgt and doing it
