Discord name: Honk Hull#7439
For how long have you played on CG SCP: 4-5 months at this point
Age: 26
In what country are you located?: USA
Time zone: CST
Character name(s): Sr. Researcher Mikael "Boots" Jorgen
Civilian name: Mikael Jorgen
What server are you applying for? (SCP-RP UK or SCP-RP USA): SCP-RP USA
Do you have a mic?: Yes
List all whitelisted, MTF, or CI roles that you hold or have held:
MTF Nu-7 PVT, CI-A, IA Agent, Doctor
Have you received any kicks/bans/warning? and why?:
Yes - I received a short ban early on for toxicity, but have certainly cleaned up my act since. Other than that, I've put on a goofy PAC a time or two and gotten a warning. I like to have fun in this server (it's a gamer after all), so I was warned for PAC abuse.
Why are you applying for Executive Researcher?
Having shadowed many researchers and conducted many different experiments during my time as a researcher, I thoroughly believe that I have the skillset to be an effective leader in the research department. I have conducted numerous and varied in-depth tests, analyzing complex scenarios while collaborating with folks from other departments in order to hone my abilities and further the discoveries of the Foundation. I have a proven track record of fostering an environment of open communication, encouraging innovative thinking, and facilitating a cooperative atmosphere that enhances team productivity. I believe that my leadership approach, combined with my enthusiasm for uncovering the unknown, would be an invaluable asset to the Foundation.
What particularly excites me about the Executive Researcher role is the prospect of delving deeper into the enigmatic world of anomalies, artifacts, and entities. My passion for unraveling mysteries, combined with my proficiency in conducting thorough research, enables me to approach each subject with a blend of open-mindedness and skepticism. I am committed to upholding the Foundation's values of rigorous scientific inquiry and ethical consideration while embracing the unconventional nature of the SCP universe.
What makes you suitable for Executive Researcher?:
As previously mentioned, I have conducted numerous tests as a researcher for the Foundation. I strive to collaborate with others inside the Foundation, encouraging open communication between teams (clearance permitting, of course). I always try to avoid duplicating unnecessary tests, blazing my own path in research through creativity and roleplay. I have proven leadership experience, guiding junior researchers on how to perform tests, collect samples, write documents, and everything else, all while falling in line with the Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics. I've been known by junior researchers as a person to go to if they have questions or would like supervision on a test that they are performing. Given that the SCP universe is one of constant adaptation and unforeseen challenges, I feel that my skillset and approach to problems is well-equipped to thrive in such a dynamic environment.
How many excellent-graded documents have you written? What makes a document excellent?
I do not have an exact count for excellent-grade documents, but I can attest that I have written multiple. My most recent excellent-grade document came today when an Nu-7 obtained a CI keycard and a deity with a gravity defying weapon (a mod lol) gave us props to pass through SCP-914. It was a fun test, and I was even able to impress the research department director. As for what makes a document excellent, it comes down to 2 factors: depth and appearance. First and foremost, the document needs to have proper depth. While some writing should be clear and concise, such as the description of an SCP, new findings should go into as much depth as possible. The document should have a solid narrative that is easy to follow by anyone who was not involved in the test, and should have explicit sections (such as index, hypothesis, procedures/methodology, outcome, etc.). Outside of pure depth though, a document should look good. Formatting is extremely important, and there are many tools available that will allow you to write a well-formatted document. Including items such as pictures, line separations, and more, contribute heavily to a document being graded as 'excellent'.
What are the responsibilities of the Executive Researcher in RP?:
In the context of SCP RP, an executive researcher is tasked with in-depth research of anomalous objects, entities, and phenomena, gathering information through experiments and observations. An executive researcher will also work closely with Foundation personnel, collaborating on research to further the Foundation while training the next generation of research personnel. Being an executive researcher does come with the 'burden' of paperwork as some might say, but I wholeheartedly look forward to reviewing documents submitted by other researchers. In reviewing this research, one of my responsibilities would be providing strong constructive feedback in a manner that is supportive and impactful by all involved. Additionally, I would be responsible for the authorization or supervision of experimentation requiring clearance level 4. All of this is to say that I, as an executive researcher, would be responsible for helping shape and grow a collaborative, and fun, research department.
Please give some lore about your Executive Researcher character and what storylines they would be involved in:
Before he was a researcher for the foundation, Mikael Jorgen was a PhD candidate at the University of [REDACTED] in which he studied [REDACTED]. Though clearly he didn't study fashion, as shown by the flamboyant red boots he wears sometimes, his research was captivating. Not to be brought down by the drab and dreary environment of research that many warned him about, Mikael insisted on bringing a bit of flair and fun into everything. Of the research he is able to talk about, the majority of it involved the exposure of psychedelic narcotics to declassified anomalies, which to no surprise had quite varying results. At the Foundation, Mikael is known for his fun, though sometimes questionable, experiment proposals. Much of his work as a researcher for the Foundation has been never before seen, like upgrading household appliances through SCP-914, resulting in a reputation of excellence while whispers of his research contributions echoed throughout the research department.
