What does this suggestion change/add/remove:
This would ban any form of Call To Arms announcements from NATO or the USSR
Has something similar been suggested before? If so, why is your suggestion different?:
Not that I know of?
Possible Positives of the suggestion (At least 2):
Less people muting the server and higher engagement with actual announcements.
Possible Negatives of the suggestion:
None, I've never seen a CTA actively bring more people online.
Based on the Positives & Negatives, why should this suggestion be accepted:
Engagement with announcements on the server is absolutely appalling and it's because of a huge influx of useless pings that have led to the majority of people either leaving or muting the server. The discord has something like over 700 people in it, and yet whenever I posted event announcements I'd get around 5-10 engagements.
There was also a consistent issue with players not knowing what was happening in events because they were entirely unaware there even was one. Not surprisingly, when I asked further about this, they had all muted the server.
Call To Arms pings don't work, and most of the time they're done with little to no effort. We even had one today of Aleem mentioning his own promotion. It's useless things like this that make players disengage and mute the server entirely.
The damage has already been done, but we could maybe at least try to prevent it further. Maybe allow it so that only SL can issue CTAs, and that NATO/USSR announcements are only used for relevant and important information.
Genuinely - the last time round as SGM it was such a frustrating time because I could not communicate with the players via event announcements. I had to constantly try to update them through mess-hall or in private.
Lastly - no I don't care about being pinged, doesn't bother me, what does bother me is that other people are bothered by it, and they just mute the server. It's likely the largest factor in why we can't get sufficient engagement with events anymore.
